Best Day! I am a complete novice. The staff was so helpful. They answered my questions ahead of time when I phoned (What kind of shoes to wear? Rentals include shoes); greeted me warmly when I arrived; patiently explained rental and lesson options; gave me a few cross country tips; provided clear map routes; rental equipment was in great shape; trails were clearly marked and perfectly groomed. The weather was beyond perfect and plenty of snow on the ground. Benches and warming huts scattered throughout the various courses. No dog poop anywhere even though there are designated dog times. The facility has a small, limited breakfast/lunch menu which includes fresh baked cookies. My cousin and I had just the very best experience! Both of us have injured knees due to downhill skiing. Both of us have received recommendations from our orthopedic surgeons to try cross country. And both of us had a blast without further tweaking our grumpy knees. JUST DO IT!

Came here with five friends and had wonderful day learning to cross country ski! The trail is well maintained and serene. ❄️ Perfect for a solo snow adventure or a group outing. The front desk staff were welcoming, friendly, and informative - they even had fresh baked cookies available for cheap! We had a little unexpected excitement when we discovered we lost our car keys. 😬 Thankfully, the front desk staff jumped into gear like a snow adventure squad on a mission to help get us back on the road. Whatever your XC adventure style (ski, chill, or comedy of errors) TahoeXC will come through!

Flew to Tahoe to enjoy trails and snow play with friends. This nonprofit is well run and volunteers/staff so friendly! Reminded us of Shasta Nordic--we so appreciate their service sharing their love of the outdoors. We went on 4.3.21, the last day open for Nordic skiing. A few dirt patches to walk past but well groomed, beautiful trails and such friendly visitors. Dropped my Visa CC on the trail and picked it up at lost and found. So grateful for the fun day in beautiful nature and restored faith in humanity.

Looks great but you should know that this place is NOT free (for most people). when you search “Free Cross Country Skiing” it is the first result, but the “lift passes” are actually $48 per person and extra $50 for rentals if you want. There are no half-day rates. There seem to be free offerings for kids 70 year old though! Wanted to leave this review because we couldn’t find any other review that mentioned prices. Their website mentions that “(TCCSEA) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that offers free and affordable community summer and winter programs for people of all ages” — but just fyi it definitely does not offer free access to trails for...
