I am a nature buff and I'm always looking for places that have that magical aura not easily found everywhere. I found it here. This is one of those parks where the trails and walkways are magical and ethereal, like out of a fairy tale. On the minus side, there is no restroom and the only portable potty is facing a tree branch, so it cannot be opened. If you need to go, the forest is your only option. Meaning, you will have to find a secluded spot or hold it until you get to a nearby gas station or your home. But everything else was perfect. Especially the zip line. Yes. A zip line. When we got to the zip line there was a family using it, but they immediately left after we arrived and the place was for just ourselves. There was nobody else. My daughter, who I call Ninja Baby because she is so brave and brazen, always trying the most difficult stunts and playground obstacles since she was a tiny baby, was the first one to try it and she didn't want to stop! I tried it twice and it was so much fun!! You have to hold on tight or you will fall when it suddenly stops. It took all my strength to hold on, but she did it like a pro! My son refused to do it. He is an old soul and it was just too much for him. For us two, it was one of the best times we have ever...
Read moreFantastic piece of the natural Sandhill Pine Florida landscape hidden next to I75. It's free to park and there are about 15+ spots. This has a fully paved trail that you can push strollers or bring your dogs on that leads into the bigger Flatwoods loop. You save $2 for parking if you enter this way. There are a few picnic tables for lunch or a small gathering. The wooded trails are harder to find here as they are not fully marked, but easy to walk once you figure it out. There is 1 port o potty.
This walk is really nice as it is almost 95% shaded. The small park has a zip line and a little play area but that is about it. The park isn't fancy but it's pretty well maintained and great for the price. There is standing water in some areas so if you decide to walk very early or later towards dusk, you will get attacked by mosquitos, so bring bug spray.
Definitely recommend this for walkers,...
Read moreIt's nice there, but city maintenance need to set up a restroom facility instead of the stinky disgusting porta potty smelling up the entry way to the trail, more part benches needed since a lot more people are going there now, also the Zipline has been broken for a while and still not repaired yet and it's the best thing there, just past the play area round the corner whenever it rains there's a river over the paved walkway which need to be elevated, and the wooden bridge needs a full renovation, and bushes need to be cut back from the bridge. Besides all that it's beautiful there. Hillsborough get this little...
