Chocorua Lake, AKA Lake Chocorua, is located in Tamworth, New Hampshire on Route 16 and is surrounded by forests and mountains which create spectacular views all year round. It is a small, peaceful and quiet lake making it ideal for swimming, canoeing, and kayaking. My understanding is that outboard motors of any type are prohibited from using the lake. This makes it safe for small children as I have never seen any roped off swimming areas. There is very little residential development and no businesses surrounding the lake. There are some great views of the bald summit of Mount Chocorua. The best area for launching a kayak is at the bridge on the south side of the lake. ** If you are coming to swim get there as early as possible very limited space and ppl claim their territory quickly (most wouldn't move to let you in the water infront of their chairs to load tubes/kayaks ... VERY limited space for a "beach" set up - chairs and such) on a plus side if you so find a spot to put your chairs its very shady on the woodline and the water is very sunny !! Perfect balance !!
