It's great. I'm not from the south and snakes freak me out. Didn't see one. And when swimming, I could see my feet when out quite the ways in the water. Place is well kept. Roped for your safety as to not go out too far and be in the way of recreational water vehicles. That's a concession stand with reasonable prices. (Sadly, it wasn't open when I went. Read moreBeautiful lake, recently purchased by TWRA and renamed Halford Lake, so changes may come in the future. We went on a Sunday around 2PM and had a late lunch at the Sunset Grill, their burger is worth driving out for, loved the handmade onion rings & cooked fresh chicken strips and fries! Wish we would have ordered the BBQ chicken plates because they smelled sooo amazing! After eating we dropped our kayaks in and had plenty of little coves to explore, we even saw a Great Blue Heron catch a fish. My only complaints are 1) they need to put a garbage can or dumpster over by the boat slips. 2) & my biggest negative aspect; I pay $1500 to keep my boat there which is fair. However anyone, including myself has to pay $6 everytime I use my boat.
