BATTLE IN ROCKY TOP!! DO NOT GO *After check in you can give your kids jersey to older kid, and they can get away with it. when we asked officials about the much larger kids on the field than we saw when the opposing team checked in they said “we don’t check before the games once they are on the field they play” *
Full review below:
This was the only link on the “Battle in Rocky Top” tournament page that led me to a place I can leave a review. First and most importantly, there were teams in the 7u American bracket who came to us and said “we can tell you brought your actual 7u, we did that before but you can’t actually do that and compete, which is why we brought most of our 9u” Other coaches within that bracket also talked with us and mentioned that they played all of the teams within that bracket throughout their regular seasons and they know all of the kids because they are from the same community and they know the families of the athletes. Each team local to those areas accused them of having kids too old to play in the 7u. The third team we played had 3 “7 year olds” over 160lbs according to their coach. We are obviously friendly and talked with them in passing like “dang man how much those kids weigh?” He said”the smallest of those 3 about 150/160”
The last thing I will mention is the referees, I understand this is a tournament and time is tight with game schedules overlapping. They didn’t have chain crews, so I made a joke saying “my parents can do it but we might cheat, we need the help” he said “I don’t give a F* if you cheat I just want to get out of the cold and get this game over with”
Also officiating was non existent. Holding, no matter how obvious, is not called. There was a kid who had one of our kids held by the facemask standing up punching his stomach repeatedly well after the play, coaches had to break it up. The kid was allowed to keep playing. I get allowing football to be played but unsportsmanlike behavior should at least draw a flag.
There also was no police presence there were 3 fights that broke out and only stopped because other fans stepped in.
There were coaches drinking and smoking weed on property in front of kids, and parents in the stands smoking and drinking from pint bottles.
I can’t speak for anything other than what we saw at Tommy schumpert park. Where the youngest age groups all play. We were 11-0 in our regular season a well coached talented team. We had close losses in all of our games in this tournament. Having a coach from another team (that we didn’t play) say yall did good, that team is from my town that’s their 8 and 9u I know those kids. It’s tough going into the game knowing your kids are at a disadvantage but are going to give it their all and still compete. To lose by 1 score to two 9 year old filled 7u teams is impressive.
The park and tournament should be ashamed they allow adults to ruin the...
Read moreI love this dog park. Sadly there are a couple people spoiling that for dog owners. We've seen aggression happening more and more lately and last Sunday we witnessed it ourselves when a large boxer attacked our 30lb. terrier. When I yelled for it's owner to call it off, I found it was a very large muscular man, yelling at me that I can't talk to him like that. He had no concern for my dog or anyone else. He looked like a mental case/pro wrestler. We were on our way out so we left after checking our dog over for injuries. Thank God he was okay. The man was still yelling after we passed through the gate. Most of the people left with their dogs at that point. Very scary and totally unnecessary. Again, I love this park and am a fan of its creators. Just be wary of a very large guy with two boxers. Your dog may get injured by...
Read moreThis park is great. It's the perfect place to walk by yourself, with friends, or even with your furry friends. It has a fenced in dog park with a pond for the dogs to play in.
The walking trail winds around the soccer fields and through the woods and eventually ends up at Sterchi Hills Park. It has a covered gazebo as well.
There is a large frisbee golf course also. The course runs beside a small (family-owned?) cemetery.
I walk this trail nearly every day for exercise. I love the trail and most of the people walking are nice and friendly. The staff there is very nice and friendly as well.
The grounds are well-kept, and it has soccer fields, baseball fields, frisbee golf course, and football fields. The only thing it lacks is basketball. Great peaceful park overall, I highly...
