Beautiful city owned cemetery, opened in 1884. The cemetery features a Romanesque chapel built by architect Jesse Vrydaugh in 1893. There is a military section and some amazing statuary like a large elk throughout the cemetery. The front entrance has a beautiful castle like look. Beautiful place!

I've Been Visiting Here Many Times Over The Year's.

Most Of My Visit's Have Been When I'm On Road Trip's With My Beloved BF.

Or Sometimes With Some Of My Friend's When Visiting Here During The Holidays.

Very Often Before/After The Summertime Whenever I Get The Chance To Visit.

It Just Depend's On When&If I'm Around These Part's Of Town When Visiting&Passing Through T.H.

When I'm Visiting Here With My Friend's It's Mostly For Alot Of Emotional Support During All Of The Visit's.

Alot Of Tight Hugs,Holding Their Hands&Always Lending A Shoulder For Them To Cry Upon When They're Paying Their Respects To The Loved Ones That They've Lost Over The Year's. 🪦⚰️😪😢

Sometimes I Honestly Believe That They(My Friend's)Really Don't Wanna Visit T.H. Very Often These Day's Especially During The Holiday Seasons

Because Whenever They Do..

It Would Often Bring Back Alot Of Very Painful&Sad Memories That They'd Have Of Their Loved Ones When They Were Alive&This Town.

Because A Few Of Them Used To Live Around The Northside Of Town.

During A Pass Through Town Sometimes They Would Avoid Visiting Here.

But When&If They Decide To Visit,I'll Always Be There For Them.

When Visiting Here With My BF,He Enjoys Visiting Places With An Historic Past.

So We'd Visit All Of The Tombstones&All Of The Cemetery Mausoleums That Are Dated&Carved In Stone From The Early 17&1900s

&While Here We Would Often Take Some Time To Visit The Beautiful Pond&The Chapel As Well.

I've Also Spent Some Time Visting Here In The Past When I Was In Town.

On A Business Trip With Some Of My Co-Workers From Work When We Stayed At That Horrible Woodridge Motel Across The Street From Here.

This Cemetery Has Alot Of Great History Attached To It. A Beautiful Historic Piece Of History That Stand's At The Entrance Gates Of This Beautiful Cemetery.

The Romanesque Style Bell Tower From The Early 1800s. The Same Can Be Said About The Gorgeous Romanesque Chapel.

Alot Of Tombstones&Some Mausoleums That's Attached To The Town's Past

The Beautiful Attraction's To The Cemetery Would Be:

1.The Romanesque Style Bell Tower.

2.The Beautiful Romanesque Chapel.

3.The Beautiful Viewing Of The Cemetery's Pond&It's Pond Fountain Along With Mother Nature's Beauty That Surround's It. 🥰😍

The Grassland's Of Highland Lawn's Cemetery Ground's

Are Very Well Taken Care Of By The Hand's Of The Groundskeepers.

My Advice For Visitor's That Visit&Decorate Their Loved Ones Graves...

⚠️ WARNING ⚠️

Whenever Putting Flowers Or Personal Item's On Graves &Birthday,Holiday Season Decorations,Etc.

Be Warned About Something

If Ya Get A Chance.. Occasionally Check On Your Loved Ones Gravesite After Decorations Are Placed On Them On A Weekly Basis.

Here's Why..

Because The Town Local's Will Often Steal From Your Loved Ones Gravesite.

They'll Steal Anything You Bought From The Gravesites Of Your Friend's&Families

After Stealing From Other Gravesites They Will Put Them On The Tombstones Of Their Loved Ones That They Would Visit From Time To Time.

They're Basically Being A Lazy DumbArse&Too Cheap To Go Out&Buy Their Own.

That's Very Disrespectful! Those Who Do This Is Going Straight To Hell. 😡 🔥😈🔥

During A Few Past Visit's My BF Caught A Couple Of Guy's Doing This

&He Made Them Return The Flowers With The Threat Of Taking A Pic Of Them&Calling The Cop's 🚔

He Reported This To The Office But They Didn't Help Much Nor Did They Act Like They Even Cared.

Half The Time They Will Often Say:

Not Much We Can Do About It,We Are Not Allowed To Watch Everyone That Visit's Here.

😳..Seriously?🤨

The Simpleton Staff Often Sit In The Office At The Entrance Gates Of The Cemetery All Day Long "Working"

&Can't Ask Any Of Their Groundskeepers To Check On Gravesites..

Just To Make Sure They Ain't Disturbed? Hmm..🤔Kinda Odd Eh?

Only 3 Downfall's This Place Has.

1.Unprofessional&Unhelpful People Like That.

2.The Gravesite Thieves..

3.No Restroom Availability 🚻

Otherwise..

It's A Great Historic Area Of A...

I spent some time walking The Cemetery yesterday and met one of the Men who take such amazing care of this place he was nice enough to allow me inside the chapel as it is somewhere I have always wanted to see and I was not disappointed the beauty in the architecture is something that truly deserves to be taken care of the Lady working the office and the guys working the grounds are really...

I have several family members buried here. The last several times I went there to visit. It looks horrible. I understand that there have been storms, but Tombstones are turned over, clumps of grass everywhere. Grass is all over the back of my family’s tombstones - not keep up at all. Very...
