The University is very different than most. I'm not a fan of high fees for the school, but when you preform a independent research the materials are not there and or you have to purchase items yourself, and do then preform it at home because there is no place to do it. Also the supplies are not provided to the staff, for instance, dry markers, staplers. Where does all those misc. fees go? The financial bill that is visible to the student isn't detailed, but visibility- charged for a parking tag not once but twice. One its shown on the bill that it comes out of aid, but then you have to pay out of pocket for it again, doesn't make since. that's a lot of money per student and staff members. ($30). It has great teaching staff. It is small classroom ration to teacher, but also those teachers are the only one to teach many subjects. So if you can't understand your professor and fail the class or the lack of communication from online teachers.. it creates a bigger debt in the students wallet. Its almost as though the school doesn't want student to pass but to collect their money instead. Just my opinion. Many people I know have transferred to other Universities and even in my classes now there's the same talk, I have even considered to transfer the very first day of class and now im in my second semester and it's on my mind. Plus the plans are not put well together for degrees, and the couns. cant advise you but ask what classes are you wanting to take . I don't recommend this school to anyone, unless you just want to stay in the area and can't...
Read moreI really enjoy my experience at this University. My professors have been very knowledgeable about their course material and understanding to the fact that students have a life outside of school and usually take more than one class at a time. The office of Student Life (Carl, Celeste, and Keith) go above and beyond to provide fun activities to keep the students interested in college and on track to graduate. Since I have been a student, they have had "destress for finals" involving free massages for students and puppies to pet to bring your stress level down, numerous concerts including Gloriana, an annual Casino Night with large amounts of prizes, and are constantly doing fun things with the students. I went to TC first and, while i appreciate TC for what it has done to the community, TAMUT has a much more welcoming feel to it, and I believe that Student Life can be thanked for that. I would suggest this university to anyone that asked. The only problem that I have had that keeps it from being a five star review is that there has been complications with my...
Read moreI would be careful on going to this school. I only went to this school for a semester and it was horrible the way it ended. When I was getting my schedule made for the next semester I had asked if I had any holds on my account and the lady that made my schedule had said no and I got my schedule for next semester. All of a sudden I drive 9 hours coming back from Christmas break, and all of a sudden I have a massive hold on my account. To my knowledge when you try to make your schedule, you can't do it unless you pay your fee. I wasn't notified through email nor I got mail about it. Also, be careful about living in a dorm. It's best to get an apartment and there are plenty in Texarkana that are nearby. Some of the RA’s that are there are rude at the dorm, I’d watch out for Christine if she's there.
Another thing is you have to hope and pray you go to the right counselor to see if you have the right classes for your degree. Sometimes I think that they'll do that to keep you in school Longer but hey...
