Went as guests of residents so only had to pay $10 each for the "exclusive" experience of sitting in 3 foot deep water. It took me a while to wrap my brain around it. You have this massive pool but everyone is confined to the small shallow area. The water was so murky that you could only see a few feet through it. You wouldn't be able to see a person who happened to go under and not resurface, a very real scenario.
There was really nothing to do unless we wanted to drop big money to rent a boat of some sort and paddle around. I could see doing that on a picturesque lake but there.
Our hosts graciously purchased a cabana, which really should have been included.
Off in the distance we saw some inflatable slide looking thing and my kiddos were eager to find something to do. The staff was friendly and we were informed that we could take free shuttle to that side, which we did. Our shuttle driver had no issue blasting explicit music for mine and my childrens listening pleasure.
Once at the public side things got really sketchy. In retrospect I would have been extremely disappointed if I had paid 40 bucks a head for an opportunity to sit in more 3 foot deep, murky, crowded water. The place wasn't even very busy but the layout channels everyone into narrow walkways that are filthy and crowded.
We finally made our way to the inflated obstacle looking thing only to find out that you had to rent flotation jackets for 5 each and you had a limited time. We noped out of there and made our way past the porta potties and food trucks through the mud and sand filled passageways back to the entrance. There's literally nothing to do there unless you want to spend additional money for a very mediocre activities.
We did see a lot of people taking selfies in front of the cheesy fake flower walls. I guess if you want to go there and take pictures and act like you're having a good time that it's a place you might like but don't expect any actual fun.
Do yourself a favor and hang out at your neighborhood pool or go sit at the beach. The water is probably clearer at the...
Read moreI want to start out with a positive note. This place has so much potential. From the vibrant community the amazing amenities and reasonable housing prices. I traveled from The Woodland's basically 60 miles away. I was very much interested in seeing what this destination was all about. Myself being from South Florida and really enjoying the Crystal Blue Waters of the Atlantic it reminded me of my old home. Wow!! Very cool lagoon pool!!! Huge!!! impressive!!! Yet a family of four could spend well over $200 quickly. $83 and change for 2 adults and 2 children. Full bar very nice about $10 bucks per drink average with tip. $10 to $15 per meal items on average. $60 chair rentals and $350 Cabana rentals$$$$$. The food trucks did a good job and the food was pretty good. Bartenders working hard making drinks. Your very young staff all in green did an ok job. Let's be honest what a pain to manage so many very young adults. I stayed for 4 hours which is long enough after tallying my expenses I spent about $400 for a few hours at the full service pool. Unfortunately, not enough security with so many people you cater too especially when alcohol is involved. Not enough guys in red!! Off duty officers a must. When I left with my kids we witnessed a domestic violence incident. (Not good) More radios for your staff members. The entrance needs a better set up those ladies sat in those uncomfortable chairs for hours in the heat. #padded seats. Umbrellas for remote bar area poor girl was roasting in the sun trying to make a buck. Main bar area get rid of all the banquet tables and set that area up with some better equipment, tables, storage for alcohol. ID checking stations or special wristbands to drink. Maintenance needs to stay on top of restrooms hourly checklist. I know you are still working out the kinks but if you want to charge for a 5 star experience you need to step up your game. I still would recommend this place for a visit. Go early and leave before 3pm is the perfect time to...
Read moreLagoonfest @ LagoMar was overall slightly fun but not worth it for what you get. I wouldn't recommend going here or coming back. This is not a worth it Houston Staycation destination. Spend your money going to the Marriott Marquis and you'd enjoy it much better than this place. . Pros: 1. The water, sand makes it feel like a beach to some extent. Wristbands make it easy to pay for thing and not carrying cash. . Cons: 1. Feeling of being constantly ripped off - a. paying service fees for renting a spot, charging to use wi-fi (why isn't it free?) b. overly priced food and drink (you can't bring in anything - $3 water). c. staff members that take liberties to add TIP to your food/drink orders without telling you. (happened twice - make sure you are aware of this!) One location for using the bathroom for the entire place which is more like a porta-potty with very little room and quite dirty depending on who used it last. No rinse station in order to get the sand off. You will get it everywhere and guaranteed to cover your vehicle in it. Will cost you a car wash and vacuum time. Food options/Timing sucked - there are burgers, hot dogs, fries, nachos, tacos, and mini frozen pizzas. All not satisfying while you're trying to make it feel like you're at a fine resort taking roughly 30 mins to get through the line. Also they had signs for a willy wonka/mangonada frozen drinks and none of the places had ingredients to make them. Told me Shiner was a "craft" beer, not considered a domestic beer carrying a $2 upcharge. Pretty Lame...
