On April 18, 2020 (not the early days of COVID-19 as we all know) I drove out to Dripping & F-burg to pick up several wine shipments. I wanted to double-check BSW's hours because google continued to have them listed as opening at 11 am. I pulled up an email and found that the owner changed the hours to M-F, 2 - 6 pm. Super disappointing--those times are not accommodating for wine club members who don't live in Dripping to pick up wine if they work 8 - 5 or later in my case. The only recourse that was offered was to purchase three additional bottles of wine (so $60 - $75 ) at 30% discount (which I already received because I was a 5 year wine club member) to get your wine shipped for free--so inherently, provide me additional profit since I won't provide you with the opportunity for convenient curbside pickup hours like every other winery. I attempted to call the winery to see if anyone was there to make arrangements to grab my wine and I left a message expressing displeasure with the new hours and how it freezes out wine club members in the Austin area that are employed. I was called back almost immediately by Nate and received nothing but defensiveness and venom back. It's almost shocking that someone who owns a business would speak to a customer/5 year wine club member AND A WOMAN the way that man spoke to me. He called me crazy, he continually perseverated on the COVID pandemic (my partner was in NY at the time assisting FEMA with COVID while he was lamenting about people dying of COVID--the gaul!!), he bragged about how he brought wine to customers in Austin who were unable to come to Dripping to get it (yet, never once offered to do anything for me, nor did I ask him to accommodate me in any way), he complained about how he lost 35% of his business, and asked me multiple times, "what do you want me to do about it" in reference to setting hours that were more customer friendly. I suggested having a weekend day and potentially cutting one or more of his less busier M-T days; interestingly...he's done that now. SIX WEEKS later (MAY 29, 2020): I get an email about the June 2020 shipment from BSW. I'm excited & I've forgotten all about the interaction with Nate because it was never that serious. Two hours later, I get an email that my 5 year wine club membership has been CANCELED without notice. He freely admitted, and I have RECEIPTS, that he canceled my membership in retaliation because I yelped review him. I think it speaks volumes that he responds and blames/takes no accountability for every bad review that mentions him. It's unfortunate because the ladies that work in the tasting room and at Sidecar are exceptional and the wine is good.
Oh, and Nate, I'm sure you're going to respond since you have nothing better to do with your time, but Bam Bam isn't me. I don't need to hide...

Read moreThis used to be our place. The place we decided all of our most important life events, from new jobs to houses to babies to family crises. We knew we could always count on sitting here, sipping wine, and really talking. Bell Springs has some significant nostalgia for us! However, it is slowly becoming less about the people and their experiences and more run as just every other business. We drove 4 hours during corona social distancing to support Bell Springs for my birthday. We knew they were only doing to-go, and were perfectly OK with that. We still wanted to support them. Whoever they hired to work that day was EXTREMELY RUDE. Just really ruined the whole experience for us. Scoffed when I asked for a plastic cup, quipped that we parked wrong, would not let my baby come in the AC, gave poor directions about how to get to the supposed beer gardens, was super disinterested when I shared how we bought one of their shirts last time as we were moving out of Austin to remember them by and it had a different tree logo then. Their wine club prices have become just way unaffordable. Now I am still getting emails for more $$. I'm saddened that their stress during corona has turned on to the customers. Just close your doors if its seriously so annoying to have to meet with...
