The park is actually very small, not a lot of room to run and aside from the train, not much equipment. Not impressive. The All Abilities Park in Round Rock by far a much better day of play.
Just received the response from owners which makes it doubly disappointing. Not their fault but I went three times to the park to be able to ride the train with my 2 year old granddaughter. I did not do my due diligence and find out what time the train stopped running. Definitely my bad.Turned out we were waiting in the park for her to ride the train and it was the last ride so we missed it. I shared that it was our 3rd time, and got "sorry, last ride". Look, I realize a person may want to go home, but that's usually hired kid employees, not owners. It's really hard to disappoint a granddaughter and a "I got you" from an owner would have made our day. Again, I understand wanting to go home, I get that one exception can lead to others, but every now and then a real moment to brighten someone's day comes along and a chance to offer good will. This is a business of putting smiles on a kids face.I thought maybe there were park restrictions which is why it was a hard no, but if I owned it and a little girl tried 3x to ride the train, I would take it out for 10 more minutes just to pay it forward. Owners didnt do anything wrong, but also did nothing to make me want to go out of my way to try again. Kindness never fails. Nevertheless, if you can get there at the right moment and don't need a lot of variety on the playground, it's something different to do.i dont know what the actual train ride is like. But oh well. The mall has a...
Read moreCedar Rock Rail doesn't follow their own schedule. They left nearly 5 minutes early, pulling away in front of us. The schedule says departures at :15 and :45 past the hour. My phone said 12:11 when the train was pulling away a few steps from us as we approached. We were early. We had followed directions and believed what was communicated on signage and the website.
When I confronted the staff, we told the train routinely leaves early, which was the first time I was warned about that. The operator seemed baffled and confused that we were nonplussed. We were told we couldn't get on the next train as it was a special birthday train. Offered no solutions and only refunded after I asked a few times.
Cedar Rock's policy of "we do what we want, screw you for following directions" took my breath away. This is a terrible policy for all families, but especially those with special needs, who rely on predictability and go through intense prep and planning to make outings successful. As a taxpayer in this county that owns the park, I am disappointed at how poor the operational standards are, and I will follow this matter closely in the future.
Theres also a mini-train at Lakeline, at the Austin Zoo, and Dell Diamond at times. Luckily, the Zilker Eagle will be up and...
Read moreWe have been going here for years and it has been great until today. Today a new employee with glasses, shoved our 3 year old son while he was trying to ride the little train cars.
It is one thing to keep him from entering because he didn’t have a ticket, but he literally pushed him away. You don’t put your hands on a 3 year old. You don’t push them.
When I talked to the employee he was defensive and gave a half ass apology. When I spoke to the other employee who seemed to be in charge...before anything he asked if my son knew what he was doing. No apology. Nothing. I had to voice my displeasure before he apologized. On top of that, he said he would talk to the other employee and that was it.
That is absolutely unsatisfactory.
It’s horrible customer service and bad business for place that is supposed to cater to children.
We will not be going back there anytime soon. Be careful when...
