0 stars, only one because that is the only choice to leave a review. I went here for my 30th birthday vacation as we were staying at canyon Lakeview resorts for the weekend. The resort was kind enough to give us a voucher for a free tasting. We show up and a very unpleasant man states he cannot help up. He’s very rude and states did you even read the voucher we only do certain times on Saturday for that resort. Like he was angry with me because I provided him with a free voucher. So then I proceed to ask how much was the tastings? He again rudely said well how much would you like it to be ma’am in a very snappy tone. Then told me it’s $15 for a tasting. Mind you’ve I’ve already spent an enormous amount of money at the resort which is why they provide you with a free tasting. But they clearly have an issue with honoring it but an hour or 2 window on one day & it states anytime until if they aren’t busy. So their needs to be more parameters clearly defined. So guess what we went your competitors in Gruene and got a free tasting & glass of wine! 😂 will never be back here only tried it bc it was going to be free. Gruene is far superior than this place! I was with friends so you not only lost one customer you lost several. Learn what customer service is and how to talk to people with...
Read moreMr. Houser. Did you know that it's not good to let your wine live outside in the elements? Your port, the "1096", it's known among vintners that leaving a wine out in the elements in the extreme Texas weather and heat is not a good method ((can I scream here)) of creating a wine. I say that delicately, as your very website talks about this very proudly. Wine lives in an special 'needed' environment, and your unadulterated decision to let this wine randomly 'grow' in that hostile enviornment, and then decide to put it on the menu..... You made a mistake with this.
Please pay a wine consultant for help before you decide to do this again.
I'm sorry. I've tried the port. I'm very sorry you've made so much of it and you might feel that you need to make 'some' money back, but it needs to be poured out in the dirt, far away from the house. End that port and you'll never have to deal with the thought of it again. Serving that port will do more negative that good.
Do the right thing man.
Sorry, got the wrong names on my review... but, you did have that horrible wine sitting outside, in barrels, in the weather. ...
Read moreKind of a mixed experience here. I was in the area and I like wine, so I figured I'd check the place out. The vineyard itself is lovely, so first impressions were good. Unfortunately I quickly discovered some ridiculous stuff posted on a corkboard in the men's bathroom. One of those email forwards you would expect from your racist grandparents was posted talking about how evil Obama is and how Muslims don't contribute to society. People are entitled to their political beliefs and all, but the part about Muslims really sickened me. What if someone who happened to be Muslim popped in to tour the vineyard and found that? I was blown away by the ignorance proudly hanging in there.
I contemplated leaving because of it, but we had driven quite a ways and had some time to kill, so we reluctantly decided to stay and do a tasting. Luckily the woman who hosted our tasting was extremely kind and spent plenty of time with us, and the wine was pretty tasty.
Overall the wine tasting experience was good, but the racist stuff I found posted in the bathroom by the owner's kind of soured...
