I got a cut with Elizabeth a little while ago, that day I got out of work early and drove for over an hour in traffic to go to their newer location out north. I used to get my hair done by Alyssa at their old location and she always did a great job, however sheās not taking clients at the moment so I figured Iād give Elizabeth a try. I was late to my appointment by 3 minutes after having to drive an hour to get there. Immediately Elizabeth made me feel like I was an inconvenience. I had medium/short length hair and just wanted to go a little shorter. Iām not familiar with all the hair terms but she asked me if I wanted it ābluntā and I said I wasnāt sure, unlike Alyssa in the past who would take the time to inform and explain things to me to ensure Iām getting what Iām looking for Elizabeth didnāt ask for any clarification and didnāt offer any explanation on what she was going to do. After hair wash she gave me a rough cut and asked if I liked the length, I took a few seconds to look at it and she rushed me by saying ālet me know because we wonāt have time for another cut.ā She also went on to tell me that we āwonāt have any time to style either.ā I wish I couldāve spoke up for myself in the moment but when I look back itās really upsetting to have felt like I was such an inconvenience to her. From the conversation she had with her coworkers, because she barely talked to me, I gathered that she was leaving out of town the very next day and I assumed she was rushing because she wanted to get off of work. Ultimately I got a haircut that I wasnāt happy with, and I probably shouldnāt have paid what I did because I didnāt even get to trim it more or get it styled. I left feeling really flustered and like there was no regard for what I wanted as the client. I can understand frustration from a client being significantly late, but I did explain my situation to her when I arrived. That & there were two spots on her availability for that day one at 4 and one at 4:15, and I booked the 4pm appointment, so there shouldnāt have been an issue with her time because there was no client after me. BUT ultimately I booked, and payed, for a service that I only half got. I sadly wont be returning to Gold Dust after this, Alyssa always did my hair well and I canāt speak for the other stylists besides my experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been in dire need of and searching for a hair salon that uses high quality products and has outstanding customer service. Thereās so many around, but rarely is the experience what it should be. I stumbled upon Gold Dust Hair Studio. They had really good reviews and great prices, so I thought Iād try it out. I booked a haircut with Elisabeth and was looking forward to it, because who doesnāt love a good haircut??!! I walked in and right from the start I could tell this would be the salon I would start using. They offered me refreshments while I waited a couple minutes for my appointment. Elisabeth gave me the best haircut I have ever had!! I am naturally a brunette, and was in the process of growing out my platinum. At the end of the cut, she showed me the back to see the results. From that, I realized how harsh the blonde line was against my brown. I asked for her recommendation on how to remove that harshness from my hair. She gave me her honest advice, and I ended up deciding on just dying over the blonde. Although, I was only there for a cut, she was nice enough to dye my hair right then and there. I was actually wearing a nicer sweatshirt too, and she offered me a robe, so it wouldnāt get messed up. She matched my natural perfectly. The color is so rich. Itās actually unbelievable. I love it so much I am actually scared to wash it lol. Anyways, Elisabeth was super personable, knowledgeable, informative, very creative, and was just all over a pleasure to be around. I loved my time at the salon with her!
As far as the environmentā I am from a small town and all the salons there are cliquy; therefore, I have rarely ever enjoyed getting my hair done. Gold Dust Salon was a whole different vibe. I felt very welcomed, relaxed, and so comfortable being there! Everyone I dealt with was such a pleasure!! They also use and sell high quality products, which was refreshing to see!
Although, I live 40 minutes away from Gold Dust, it is my go to salon. This should tell you something if Iām driving that far for my hair lol. I will recommend it to anyone who needs a salon. Thank you so much,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to Rene and explained I wanted to go blonde. She performed a color correction and started highlights. First two visits went well. When it came time for my third appointment, the shut down started (for COVID that week). It was 12 weeks between my 2nd and third appointment.
When I went in she asked to see a picture of my āgoalā hair again. I showed her the picture and she stated she didnāt think my hair would go that blonde (I have dark brown hair). Ok- so she asked if I was growing out my grey hair. I stated eventually but not right now. She asked if I ever thought about silver. I said sure I have and itās beautiful. Im thinking of silver hair you see on women thatās trending . Fast forward-
When her assistant started drying my hair after another round of highlights (and some added color but not sure what) it was dark again. I stopped her from blowing dry my hair and she said she would get Rene. I was clearly upset that my āgoing blondeā hair had been darkened to close to its original color. She explained that it would lighten and it was part of the process not to worry. She also explained that she didnāt add color to my hair- everything was deposit only. (Not sure about that)
Well when I walked in to my house my husband stated- why did you go back dark? Is that what you asked for? I burst into tears. Why would she darken my hair back when I explicitly stated I wanted to go light to help the grey seem less noticeable. 1000 dollars later, I still do not have blonde hair. I have pictures of before, after 1st and 2nd visit, and then back to dark after 3rd.
3 weeks later, my hair is still dark. Rene was not rude or anything like that, but if you see a client is upset- you should recognize, ask what they do not like, and offer a remedy. She knew I was not happy and I expressed that when I stopped the blow dry and asked her...
