This is the coolest museum we've ever been to, ever. We are RV enthusiasts, and owners of our own little Class C motorhome. This was such a delight!! And they have much more than just amazing rare RV's (most of which you can ((please be gentle and careful!!! 🙏)) walk through!) But also equally amazing vintage and rare sports cars, motorcycles, toys, memorabilia and more. We had the biggest blast here!! This place is free admission, with acception of appropriate donations. We wish we could've gave more, but we had a $20 on us and threw that in there. They also have free cold water for everyone. Yes, you can feel the love here. Now, for our pro tips on visiting this must-see Amarillo gem; finding the entrance. When you approach the RV museum, you will see a big, dark building which has "Sisemore" in big letters, on the side of it. You've found it! Turn into the first entrance, and pass through the gate, where the parking and entrance is on your right. Don't forget to check out the little building next to the main one, there's lots of awesome memorabilia and sports cars in there. Happy travels! P. S, we will be recommending this to everyone we know. And, I have to mention this: the little informative signs which most everything has, are so super wholesome and adorable, they kind of make my heart overflow with joy. You totally need to see this Museum! 1,00,00,00,000,00...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I are full-time RVers, so we were excited to stop here on our way through Amarillo. We were pleasantly surprised at how truly excellent this museum is! It's not just a collection of cool old RVs (although it's certainly that, too), it's a tour through nearly 100 years of recreational vehicle history. It was really interesting to see the evolution of campers and learn about the history of the industry. The RVs on display have all been lovingly restored and maintained; walking inside each one, I felt as if I'd been transported to the eras they came from.
Displayed alongside the RVs is a really fun collection of vintage cars, motorcycles, racing cars, and signs/memorabilia (the I Love Lucy movie poster was my favorite). The woman staffing the museum was lovely and very helpful. Due entirely to how terrible I am with directions, we had a little trouble finding the museum at first and, when I called the number on the website, I believe I spoke to Mr. Sisemore himself, who was incredibly friendly and helpful, as well. I would gladly have paid for this museum, but it's a lovely service to the public...
Read moreThis place is a treasure! Located within an RV dealership, this free musuem has a collection of vintage RVs, RV and camping accessories and motorcycles. Walk through the RV store/office to tower musuem. Plenty of helpful staff to point you in the right direction. Jack and his partner Trent started the musuem in 1988 and have amassed an impressive collection including one of the original airstreams (1935) and the bus from the movie RV. Guests can walk into many of the RVs and find collection of gadgets and toys from the era of the RV. My 8 and 10 year olds did NOT want to go to a other museum, but quickly changed their toon and had a blast seeing how much had changed compared to our RV. You can spend as little as 30 minutes or a couple of hours depending on your time available and interest level. Parking is a little tight; if you're planning on arriving in your RV I'd suggest calling ahead and doing a...
