They apparently shut down the park at noon for the day due to being over capacity, even though we watched well over 40 cars leave in less than an hour. When I asked the parks gate attendant why it is shut down for the day, he claimed "it's because the Army Airforce General came and shut it down for ths day when he saw how packed it is." I asked him why a general of one of the branches would have authority over a civilian owned park and he had nothing to say besides "I dont know what to say". So a general who oversees both army and air force closed a civilian owned park that is not owned or operated by the military in any capacity. He then tried to claim it's because the "restrooms dont work and we only have porta potties, and the army air force general doesnt like that." So yeah, if you want to visit this park, arrive at 5 AM to wait for the gates to open at 7 AM and make sure to have your full party there. And if you have to leave at all, be prepared to abandon anything left behind since they will not allow you back in. Rediculous. Closing at noon on a Saturday for the rest of the day... this is a lake man. What are they going to do if everyone leaves at 2? Still claim they are...

Going downhill fast. I've been coming here for the past few years. Since then, the roads have started falling apart, the garbage is becoming a huge problem and the people showing up are less than desirable. The docks were finally repaired but a lot of people decide to swim around them which is illegal and dangerous. I typically only come here during the week since the weekends are a real mess here. When I show up on a Monday or Tuesday I'll find the park closed. When I asked someone about it they said they needed finish cleaning from the weekend. They seem to have a lack of trash cans and the people that show up don't care at all about keeping their trash from blowing away. I've picked up several grocery bags that are headed for the lake. I dont enjoy picking up other people's garbage but I have jet skis and I'd rather not suck their trash in to my jet skis intake. I've also noticed the bathrooms are locked leaving only a few portable toilets to use. The last time I was there on the weekend I thought I was going to get a contact high from the weed blowing in the wind. Its turning extremely ghetto there. I now go to Canyon Park and pay $12 to avoid the crowd and...

This Place was Awsome for a first timer, and her family we were having a blast nice clear water great view, just Awsome until u leave to grab ice.. mind you all I left my daughter in with family and friends, as your exiting please be AWARE you CANNOT RE-ENTER PARK IF ITS FULL COMPACITY, cause they won't mention any of this to u when u drive in, as we were stoked to get in cause we've heard great things and seen it for ourselves. The hr that we were there was awsome. I'll never be returning again due to the fact I had to leave my daughter there with family and take myself and husband and son to the other side of Canyon Lake. Terrible experience I can't stand the fact I had to do this. I did speak to the Manager if i should call her that she was very rude and unprofessional, literally hung up phone on me, I do understand they hear this all the time and this happens daily, but really nobody deserves to go thru this, especially when it's there first time and traveled to get here. Let alone have to leave the whole family and go elsewhere. Also fyi portal potties are very bad!! I wish I could of enjoyed...

We were in town visiting the area and were looking for a great park with access to Canyon Lake. This park fit our needs just fine with covered picnic table areas, plenty of space to spread out and put out chairs or blankets, and great easy access to the water! The shores are a bit rocky so I would recommend wearing water shoes of some kind, I wore crocs and they worked great. I didn't give four stars because there was a large amount of trash around the park area but not in the water. I assume this is because there are a few big dumpsters but no trash cans that are conveniently placed. Another thing to consider is that when we went they had portables restrooms and the on site restrooms were closed and locked. Overall this was a good site and we had a lot of fun hanging out in the water!

Today was my first time back in over 22 years. Jacob's Creek Park, and Canyon Lake have always been HOLY to me! I lived in Illinois, where there are NO lakes like Canyon Lake, the lakes in Illinois don't compare to the ones we have in Texas! I was surprised to see the 10 dollar entrance fee -- which I can accept -- but the amount of LITTER out there, UNBELIEVABLE! All I have to ask is, "Why?!" This lake was so pristine at a time, and there's NO reason it still SHOULDN'T be! Those who litter and defile this place should face SERIOUS JAIL TIME! If you are one of those that can't seem to put your waste anywhere you want, JUST STAY AWAY!

Military Park is ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHING! Wildlife all over, that you stumble upon, walking through the wonderful wilderness trails along the winding beaches in Texas Hill County. If this ain't livin, I sure don't know what is! WOWWWEE! TOTALLY AMAZING! Everyone was EXTREMELY HELPFUL and POLITE! The place is clean and DEFINITELY worth checking into!
