Went with the wife to the Glat huts for an overnight stay. Sort of hidden down a path but they have signs. Not a huge amount to do but if you love rowing a canoe on a lake, it's the spot for you.
The rooms depending on what you get can have a sink, ac, grill with gas and a fire pit. Mini fridge with a bottle of basic wine.
I would bring your own firewood or wood chunks if you plan on using a fire pit. They had lighter fluid and lighters but that could be hot or miss so plan to bring your own just in case.
We were the only ones there since it was a Monday and Tuesday so quiet and peaceful.
Saw some rabbits at sunset, a plagues worth of lizards, a Western Ribbon snake, tiny frogs and some other beasties. At night you will hear frogs in the distance. Be sure to close trash lids tight. I awoke to a trash panda rummaging for scraps.
Overall a pleasant place. One thing I would suggest is that they buy some cheap stepping stones to put between the porch and the trail because it was muddy and makes for a mess....
Read moreWorst camping experience of my life and I went through SERE in the military. The sites are nice and well kept but no staff is around after 8pm and they dont have any way to be contacted after that. There were kids screaming at the top.of their lungs all night well past midnight. I could hear them clearly over ear plugs. There were multiple parties raging and the park makes it very clear that quiet hours is after 10 pm. This is a big deal because these are tents with no sound barrier.I wish I could leave an audio recording with a timestamp on this review to show just how ridiculous it was. This is suppose to be a relaxing experience in nature and honestly it would have been more relaxing to camp in my back yard at home which has a rail line and a 10 lane interstate 1/4 mile away and that's not an exaggeration whatsoever. For almost 250$ a night this is just unacceptable, I will never be back and will ensure others are aware of this experience...
Read moreI enjoy this place a lot. Fishing can be amazing. Fun place to boat. Swimming is always a good time. Can be crowded on weekends and holidays. I personally mountain bike the hike&bike trail to south shore and back. Little over 9 miles. Mostly beginner trail with a handful of intermediate sections, such as quick sharp switch backs, some fairly steep uphills and down hills, with rocks, sugar sand, and pine needles throughout. Some rolling stretches, lots of fun, but not much trouble for someone experienced and in good shape. I reccomend a bike with at least front suspension. Not a road bike type trail. Bring water and something to eat. Restrooms available at both North and South shore. LCRA keeps the whole place squared away, also looks good. Miniature golf at South shore, 9 holes and new. Kinda cool really. Camping and bbq grills and picnic tables available at both locations. Close to Bastrop. Even has some cabin rentals. I...
