I visited this small, yet excellent Museum on the base at Ft. Hood accompanied by a 1st Cav Div. female combat medic veteran of OIF/OEF. I was proud to say the least. The museum spans WWI to present day. You should really take to time to read all of the timeline information to develop a full understanding of this Unit's long and impressive history. Makes you proud to be an American! 🇺🇸 Interesting exhibits, especially the Congressional Medal of Honor Winners section of 1st Cav. Very moving. Read moreAnother Great Military Museum. But if the Museum opens at 10:00 AM on Saturday, why does the gift shop not open until 2:00 PM. At least the gift shop does open on Saturday, unlike the other Museum, but still seems rather idiotic for it not to open at the same time as the Museum itself. My grandchildren were really disappointed not to be able to get a reminder of their visit. Seems to me if you advertise when the Museum opens you would also put on the web the time the gift shop opens. Really idiotic to have it opening 4 hours...
Read moreGreat open-air museum that spans decades from WWI to modern War on Terror. The inside exhibits are pretty cool but I just thought all the vehicles outside on the grounds were great. Simply walking around and reading the placards for each vehicle was enough for me and that burned up about 2 hours just doing that. My kids loved running around and gawking at the "biggest, biggest, biggest tanks." The only drawback I can say is that it was a challence to keep my kids off...
