I can't thank the ranger ENOUGH. I was close to passing out and he was paying attention to me and recognized my need for help. He gave us both the water we both desperately needed. So kind. Thank you again. Then, the park itself is not that big, but it has it's "own energy" here. Very intense. And the beautiful views, oh my gosh!! You can see both the summits of Mt.Adams AND Mt.Hood, without moving your feet. This was an amazing feeling for myself. The views were perfect. I included a video, hopefully my crappy Google phone didn't eat that video as well. There are ball fields there so this place sees a lot of people. It's so beautiful, and well maintained, as well as protected. People are not vandalizing anything here. It's like another world, within that walk trail circle. I have so many pictures of this place, and not that many posted. I will take a bunch of new ones and update this! On a clear day the volcano views are to die for! This is truly a nice park. There are many ceremonies and events hosted here for large groups. Also, the oldest cemetery in The Dalles is here. It's a documented haunted place. The college is right there also

I am ranking it at 3 today because of the people the park itself is pretty cool. My son has Asperger's and every single child there was absolutely rude I will never come back due to the type of people that come to this park very snooty snotty people with children that are five times worse than them. If you're going to take your kids to the park don't be afraid every time they go down the slide or come off a toy absolutely ridiculous definitely not my kind of Park definitely not my kind of people be aware out-of-towners let alone one with special ed children

Such a beautiful park, with an amazing playground. It has huge wooden play structure that has multiple slides, swings, tire swings, monkey bars, sand area, and much, much more. My kids had a blast playing on it. There's a huge field/tree area behind it that I noticed disc golf things on (sorry I don't play, I don't know what they're called lol whatever you throw the discs to). I didn't explore much else of the park than that but I know there's a lot more. I saw public bathrooms as well but I didn't use them.

This is a great, large park, able to accommodate many activities. It has a covered area, equipped with a huge, rock fireplace and hearth. There are many picnic tables under the covered area, as well as plenty scattered throughout the park. There is also a long, tall barbeque pit, built for standing while cooking. There is plenty of parking available on most days, unless there is a citywide activity or it is a holiday. Some of the available activities at Sorosis include frisbee golf, tennis, softball and a great running trail surrounding the park. Bring your kids to play on the spectacular playground equipment, modeled after the Fort Dalles Museum, I think. Trees abound, which casts plenty of shade on the inevitably hot summer months. Dogs are also welcome, however, the signs say they should be leashed. I doubt that would be enforced if your pet is not a fighter AND you are a responsible pet owner and pick...

The devastation is so sad. I grew up going to this park often and shade was a big factor for it. It won't keep me from coming back and enjoy but it just looked like a war zone. The workers and crew that were there diligent and hard-working. Their persistence in continuing to clear things, clean things, and prepare things around the park needs applauded!

Regardless of the conditions with the lack of trees this park always stays clean and never lacks in magic to the child who walks up to that plate set for the first time and looks at the grandeur that's the castle people from the community built together. It's astounding to a little one how great the park play area is and it's a welcome sigh of relief to a parent who knows they have a place to...
