I used to hike this park weekly, years ago, before my health took a turn for the worse.

I hiked practically every trail and loved every minute of the experience. In fact, I'd like to have my ashes spread there when I leave this life, if possible.

Though it is more crowded these days, it is an amazing gift which has been bestowed upon the citizens of thousand oaks CA by the powers that be.

Go! See this historic place for yourself! Wuthering Heights was filmed there, as was Gunsmoke and scores of other early television shows.

Remember to visit the falls and hike the Santa Rosa trail up the mountain, that view is spectacular!

Once you have conquered Wildwood, check out the Los Robles trails, east and west. East will take you all the way to an overlook of lake Sherwood and the west will take you to around portrero road and Wendy, there at Angel Vista you will have a great view of the channel islands.

Be safe. Have fun. Always respect the land and the other hikers and remember, always let someone know the exact route that you intend to take and when to...

Once you crest the hill by the parking lot, you descend into an expanse of natural chaparral surrounded by mountains with exposed pinnacles of rock. The transition from suburbia to nature is immediate, making Wildwood an amazing escape from urban Los Angeles.

Trails are generally wide and well-maintained; my toddler could safely walk large stretches of them without danger of going over a ledge. There are lots of trails which offer a variety of views and a chance to get your miles in. Expect to see plenty of dogs and bicyclists.

Paradise Falls is an idyllic grotto, the perfect place to sit and rest under an oak or cottonwood while listening to the waterfall. The trail above the falls runs through a canyon, and ducks tend to congregate in the Creek's...

Decent enough hike going down, it's all down. The waterfall is very pretty nice spot for a picnic. God help you coming back up. Felt like Sisyphus the whole way back, once you clear one hill, there's another one even longer and steeper, and another, and another. I had to take a nap at the teepee for half an hour and stick icecubes up my rumpus to even start to cool down, and then it starts all over again, hills and hills, on and on, until you're finally on the path back to the parking lot, and it's a bunch of wavy hills! All in all, love the hike, easy recommendation if you do your cardio regularly, or have young knees, or enjoy suffering, i will need to undergo some serious training before i consider it...

Nothing beats being out in nature with your children! We found this local gem in Thousand Oaks Ca. Wildwood Regional Park, allowed us to explore a teepee and just at the end of the Paradise Falls’ 2.3 mile trail is a picturesque waterfall! This trail was perfect for my son and I’d recommend it for children 3.5 and up. #lahikes #losangeleshiking #thingstodowithkids #childfriendly #littleexplorers
