Angel Island is a nice day adventure. We kayaked over from Sausalito and were lucky enough to stay overnight in the old garrison as we were with ETC guides. The ferry from Sf and Sausalito takes you to the Island. 360 degree views from the middle of the bay. It was the "Ellis Island of tbe West" so a venture to the Immigration Center is a must. Great hiking. There are campsights that book way in advance. Blacktail deer and many types of birds roam the island. The photos are of the Old Camp and the South/Southwest/West part of the island.

๐Ÿ’š amazing landscape and bay views with subtle wildlife ๐Ÿ’š historically restored military housing beautifully shine in their state of decay ๐Ÿ’š this area is just one of many within the park featuring many structures in various states of restoration or decay ๐Ÿ’š excellent rangers and park staff ๐Ÿ’š amenities: restrooms, benches, and picnic tables are found in this area ๐Ÿ’š aside from ferry fare, there is no other cost to enter this area of the park (as of this writing) โ›”๏ธ caution: somewhat steep roads and paths in this area

We went to Camp Reynolds on a 4th/5th grade field trip which is part of the living history program the state park does. It was the most amazing field trip ever complete with militia training, flag signaling, baking, cooking, compass hike, night hike to the top of Mt Livermore, night watch duty, and canoneering. The kids learned so much and as a parent, I was thrilled with the whole program. Such an amazing opportunity to experience the civil war era.
