We went for one of the maplefest weekends. There was a museum showing how people used to live and work . I didn't see everything, but noticed a lack of info about the native culture, pre-Europeans. There are several buildings depicting 1700's to 1900's lifestyle. Some people were in character dress. One lady was cooking sweets on a woodstove. There was a schoolhouse (locked), an apothecary, a few other locked buildings, a barnyard and a woodshop. Barnyard had some livestock, chickens, cows. Read moreMy family and I went to do the breakfast and maple trail. Certainly not what I was expecting. The dining staff was very unorganized and rude. The breakfast was cold. The nice thing about the tour was the outdoor staff. They were very nice, informative and kept good conversation. I was really not pleased with the dining room staff with the exception of the bus boy. No one could tell me where to get hot water to make my baby's bottle, the woman didn't know where the bathroom was, a man finally showed me into their kitchen to use the hot water tap....

This caused a tax increase of 11.2% this year, forcing the elderly and poor to move out of amherst because they can not afford the taxes. Shame on you BNHV. Your mission statement says rural several times, yet you are taking millions of dollars from the Amherst tax payers to move to a suburan location. Stay where you are and save the town from this...
