Andes Rail Trail — Attraction in Town of Andes

Fun walk with my wife. The entrance driveway is small, there is parking for about a few cars. Trail is marked very well, there are some muddy spots but if you pay attention there are small trails to the left around the muddy spots on your way in. Tons of historical locations, some movies used this location. There are a few historical stops with pictures and a story about the history. The first couple miles is very easy. You will come to a sign where you can hike another couple miles but it is moderate. I hike a bit with my son so I had no.problem going straight up after the sign. It is a bit Rocky but some beautiful views from above. Its mostly in the shade, not to much sun. Enjoy your walk...

Well, I got lost? Not lost really, but I missed the cut off for the loop at the top and ended up going in a circle, which sucked. I didn’t feel like climbing back up the hill to find the fricking trail head so I cut through to find a road that eventually took me back out to Depot rd.

There is no map where you park and start the trail, which could have saved me the unexpected off-grid hike. There is a map, it’s across the parking lot no where near the trail head. 🙄. Also there is no water feature on this hike. Extremely enticing stream juuust over the property line. I def did not go over there and...

It's an easy trail. You can opt to do the difficult part, which isn't really hard. Lots of birds and nice views. Lots of trees on the harder section, and a bit of the creek is in view. Volunteers make a good effort to maintain the trails, but people like to bag their dog poop and leave it all over the trails and parking lot. If you see someone doing this, please feel free to give them a smack upside the head so they don't forget...
