My son and I visited Devil's Lake State Park on Saturday, March 1, 2025. It was chilly but that was no fault of the park 😁 We are not avid hiker's but have done multiple trail hikes, along with hiking the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains. This trail was beautiful! I had a rough time putting away my phone and not taking photos, as you can probably tell. We plan to go back again in the Summer to enjoy more of the trails as we only focused on getting to the Devil's Doorway.

I do highly recommend getting your Park ticket online before going, you will need to print it out and put it on your windshield, or you need to have a piece of paper that you can write your ticket information on to place in your windshield for park staff to...

This is hands down my favorite place to visit in Devils Lake. It is so stunning and beautiful as it is in pictures but better in person. It a great photo spot and a must see if you’re in Devils Lake. The trail to get there is short and not really tiring but the Balanced Rock trail is tiring so see Devils Doorway first and then Balanced Rock after.

The way Devils Doorway sits is just great for admiring. It sits on a cliff and in open space. But be careful when taking pictures when you are right next to it because if you fall… But don’t let that scare you because even kids can do it if they’re careful. Cons: Going back to the forked trail to see Balanced Rock was a little confusing as I could not find the...

It was a lot of fun getting here. I loved all of the rocks we had to climb up. It took over an hour to get here. I lost track of time though because there was so much beauty along the way. Be sure to bring a lot of water. One water bottle is not enough. We had to make frequent stops to catch our breath. It really is a journey and a lot of people turned around because they were not prepared. We actually got here from a trail that is not listed on the local map or Google maps. There are quite a few like that around here. It really felt like...

This is truly the most stunning rock formation in Devil’s Lake State Park, if not all of Wisconsin. After all, who would expect such an incredible natural marvel in a U.S. state that’s not known for tall mountains or rock formations or other natural landmarks? Definitely plan on seeing Devil’s Doorway Rock Formation when visiting Devil’s Lake State Park, but please be sure to arrive as early as possible in the morning, because during the afternoon, it gets extremely crowded.
