My son and I visited Devil's Lake State Park on Saturday, March 1, 2025. It was chilly but that was no fault of the park đ We are not avid hiker's but have done multiple trail hikes, along with hiking the Appalachian and Blue Ridge Mountains. This trail was beautiful! I had a rough time putting away my phone and not taking photos, as you can probably tell. We plan to go back again in the Summer to enjoy more of the trails as we only focused on getting to the Devil's Doorway.
I do highly recommend getting your Park ticket online before going, you will need to print it out and put it on your windshield, or you need to have a piece of paper that you can write your ticket information on to place in your windshield for park staff to...
   Read moreThis is hands down my favorite place to visit in Devils Lake. It is so stunning and beautiful as it is in pictures but better in person. It a great photo spot and a must see if youâre in Devils Lake. The trail to get there is short and not really tiring but the Balanced Rock trail is tiring so see Devils Doorway first and then Balanced Rock after.
The way Devils Doorway sits is just great for admiring. It sits on a cliff and in open space.    Read moreIt was a lot of fun getting here. I loved all of the rocks we had to climb up. It took over an hour to get here. I lost track of time though because there was so much beauty along the way. Be sure to bring a lot of water. One water bottle is not enough. We had to make frequent stops to catch our breath. It really is a journey and a lot of people turned around because they were not prepared. We actually got here from a trail that is not listed on the local map or Google maps.
