Let me start by saying I understand that there is new ownership and that changes are being made. We visited with 2 seniors, 3 adults, and a 3yo. Admission was a little high at $96 for our group, if things were a little more organized this would not have been as big of an issue. We asked for a map and were informed that they had just gave away their last one. We were able to navigate but some direction in the zoo would have helped. Some of enclosures with the animals did seem a bit small but we could see where the new ownership has already started adding space for the animals. A suggestion would be to put up more signage that tells you about the animals, none of the enclosures had more than one and many had none. We found ourselves using google lens for the ones that we didnt know. Animals appeared healthy and several had direct interaction with us. The little petting zoo as you come in was a nice area allowing you to pet deer, goats, rabbits and Guinea-pigs. The walking paths could be a little better for people that have to use walkers. The buildings that we entered were weathered but again could see that they are making changes with the new ownership. I can't speak to the little Cafe that's there as we did not eat there. I believe if they continue with the changes we seen all this will be resolved.

It was great to walk in and see the petting zoo with a variety of cute and friendly animals, and whitetail deer running wild. But, the further I walked into the park, the worse it got. All of the carnivores, including bears, a tiger, a cougar, coyotes, and wolves, had TINY enclosures which consisted of concrete pads, chain link fences, and a couple climbing platforms. Some enclosures had a ball and/or a hanging tire for “enrichment”. The enclosures had NO natural elements, not even grass. As an animal science major minoring in captive wild animal management, I have studied zoos for a few years now. I know that enclosures should feature enrichment items that allow the animals to express their natural behaviors which they would express in the wild. I also know that pacing, which I watched the bears, wolves, and coyotes do, is a behavioral stereotypy which can indicate poor animal welfare. I have read the owner’s responses to other negative reviews, and they claim they are trying to expand and improve enclosures but can’t afford it. Do NOT buy a zoo or exotic animals if you cannot afford to give them the care they deserve. This place brought me to tears. Please skip out on this “zoo” and visit an AZA accredited facility instead. I have included a photo of the black bear enclosure for reference.

There are a couple of positive aspects to this zoo, but I can not say that they outweigh the feeling you get being here. There is a variety of animals that you can see, feed, and interact with, but I felt put off by several things. First, the person working at the front had no desire to answer my questions Like any of them. Okay, cool. The nursery was really cute, and the kids had fun. The staff in here seemed like they cared, and it showed with how they acted with the animals. The issue started when we were given the option to feed the black bears. You feed them animals crackers through a PVC tube in the fence. The bears need space and shade, especially where they are supposed to stand to get treats. They both were aggressive toward the tube if people were nearby but not putting in food. There is a full-grown doe who is obsessed with the people eating, and she is very aggressive. The fox had no water, and it was so very hot. In general, the animals need more space and stimulus.

Really shouldn't be buying a roadside zoo if you can't already afford to properly take care of the animals. They just bought the business and are now looking for volunteers to manage their entire for-profit operation. A couple people questioned this, and the comments were deleted and those critical were blocked (including me). No question, no dialogue, just blocked. There are better businesses to support. Hopefully one day the animals will be rescued and given proper natural space in which to live with no concrete floors - and ideally not for entertainment. Also - cheese curds and spotted cow? Huh? Please, do not approach me. Your interaction is unwanted. I have no desire to interact with people involved with the January 6 riots either. Great job bragging to strangers about it! Glad the feds found you.

This place is the epitome of why privatized zoos should be illegal, the Tiger King of Northern Wisconsin. It was heart breaking watching the cougar and wolves pace in circles. Half of the animals did not have freshwater flowing and were in cages way too small, which also looked like they had been constructed by people on wayyy too many drugs. 2 bears in one small enclosure was disturbing considering it appeared there was nothing wrong with them, and they should be in the wild. Also watching a bear lay in his food bowl and eat was disturbing. I know shedding is a normal occurrence but these animals all appeared to be stress shedding and depressed. This place seriously broke my heart into a million pieces. These poor animals, this is inhumane.

Awesome place to take kids. The zoo is large enough to be entertaining without being so huge that everyone is cranky and exhausted before you see it all. Deer and goats walking free and playground and picnic area are well kept up. Such a variety of animals; bears, skunks, wolves, raccoons, cougar, tiger, pigs, sheep, red deer, lots of different types of birds etc. All the animals were very well cared for. The kids loved feeding the trout, goats and camel. Also had a lot of fun petting the deer. They spent a lot of time running through the maze house and also panning for "gold" ie spray painted little rocks. The perfect place to bring younger kids!!
