HoneyBeeMade — Attraction in Town of Big Flats

HoneyBeeMade is a very cool small business. I took one of Burt's beekeeping lessons today and it was a blast. Burt was so friendly and very informative teaching us about the bees. He answered all of our many questions and we got hands on experience learning how to inspect a colony. It was so cool to see the bees up close and learn how their hives function.

The owners, Burt and Anne, are very kind and friendly people! They gave my husband and I permission to have our engagement pictures taken on their property with the beautiful sunflowers last fall. We also purchased small honey bears as wedding favors from them.

I can't forget to mention, they sell delicious honey! Along with maple syrup that is made on site and other natural products.

I would 10/10 recommend checking this business out and definitely take a bee keeping lesson if you ever...

The beekeeping experience was fun and fascinating beyond “bee-lief”! Beekeeper Burt is a great teacher. He was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable about all things bee. My mom and I felt safe and comfortable the entire time in our protective suits.

I enjoyed that the experience was very hands on. I got to lift and inspect bee covered frames, use a smoker to calm the bees, and see the Queen, eggs, and pupa deep within the hive. I was shocked how heavy a frame full of honey is!

I came away from the experience with great summer memories and a deeper appreciation of the complex and compelling world of bees. I can’t wait to bring my fiancé and our friends in the future so I can share this cool and unique...
