Hike from parking lot to beach is about a mile, about 15 minutes through the wooden area. Fairly easy path. Getting down the beach is a bit tricky, wait until you see the signs along the trail, the best place to get down is just past the yellow signs. Somewhat steep getting down but manageable. Beach is fairly large but expect boats to pull up especially on the weekends. Amazing views and shallow waters near beach. Worth the trek!

BONUS in the clearing along the trail, there are hundreds of wild raspberry vines. Should be ready to harvest in Late June. Wisconsin DNR does permit foraging of berries and mushrooms on state lands, so long as you...

It's really beautiful when you come during the later hours of the day. The hike isn't very long, but there are lots of mosquitos. Once you go down there to the end you can go down to a nice beach on the river. You can see a couple of tour boats or kayaks come by every once in a while. The canyons are really impressive, great to take pictures next to them, just make sure not to fall, they're pretty tall. Overall it's a great hike, I would recommend it if you enjoy nature and hiking, but it's not great for people who get tired easily by walking...

We took this little hike today on a kind of rainy Saturday morning and it was magical! About 1.8 miles round trip and with the weather, most people are away in the indoor water parks and tourist attractions, so we had it almost all to ourselves! I see from other reviews its a popular spot for boaters to stop and swim, so it was great to be alone in the woods and water! Trail was rustic at the end which I love but not accessible to all, so bear that in mind. Great spot to get away from the tourist trap stuff, especially on week days...

Parking lot is limited so come early or on an off day. Trail is wide & easy to navigate. At the end you'll need to descend a fairly steep slope to access the beach. There are some stone stairs but can be challenging for some. The access is to the left of all the yellow warning signs. Reward is a nice Sandy Beach with great views of the area. On weekend this beach is popular with boaters. We were unprepared for all the boats that were here. The trail does split but both routes will take you there. Loop is 1.8 miles.

What a shame for the state to put so many rules on this beautiful natural area. It should be open all the time, for all us taxpayers, and include river access. What gives them the right? Too little public access everywhere! They should stop trying to dictate and claim ownership over everything. What did the state do to deserve ownership? The answer is nothing, they stole it and placed rules on it, like just about everything. I'm surprised they didn't charge a tax for each step I take there, that's next.
