Better camping experience than we had expected. It is a beautiful park with many things to do. Good for camping or even just a day trip. Stayed for 3 nights at Sandstone Ridge campground over Labor Day weekend. We had a non electric site, #124, good size and pretty leveled. I only wished it had more surrounding greenery for better privacy. The campground is also near the highway. Yes, you can most definitely hear it at night, but we did not find it to be an issue for us. The campground is huge, with many sites to choose from. The bathroom/ shower house close to our site looked fairly new, so it was impressively clean. The showers were private and separate from the bathroom. No smells in the facility, although, walking towards the bathrooms, near site 128, there was an awful smell. Not sure where that came from. We only did the Echo Rock trail, but it was a nice short and beautiful walk to do with kids. At the lake, near the boat lauch area, they have a small concession stand with rentals available. My husband and kids also did some fishing but had no luck. Benches could be found surrounding the lake. Overall, we would definitely consider staying here again.

Great place to hike within the Dells area and a not-as-crowded alternative if Devil's Lake is super swamped. Summer season brings the most activity to the beach area with kayakers and paddleboarders scattered out along the lake. Trails are pretty well-marked and maintained, but keep an eye out for poison ivy along the trail edges because it is there. A trek on the trails can take you around part of the lake, up to Echo Rock, and around Fern Dell Gorge. Two different boat ramps give you access to the water and some decent views of the lake. The boat rentals shack has a small gift shop of Mirror Lake SP apparel; I've never rented here nor camped out, but it looks like a decent place to do both. For a park close to I-90/I-94, you don't hear much noise from traffic. Be sure to stop by the Ishnala Supper Club for dinner; the wait may be long, but worth it.

This campground is absolutely beautiful. The lake had a lot of algae, but it was posted they would harvest it mid-late July. Trails were easy to walk and beautiful. The biggest down side for us, is the park ranger seems to strictly enforce bed time. They routinely patrol and if they see you out of your camper or tent after 11pm they will tell you to go to bed, with threats of eviction if they come by and see you again. I do not drink, but enjoy sitting by a fire and chatting with someone in the chair next to me. This in no way keeps anyone else in my camp awake, so the next camp over would need ultrasonic hearing to even know I'm talking. Most of the time my husband tells me to speak up because I'm too quiet. So I am in no way noisy. I understand quiet time, but I dont think that means be invisible. For that reason, I will probably not go back. Which is really too bad. If you like to always be asleep by 11, you will love this place.

Fine state park, beautiful views of serene Mirror Lake which is quite nestled into the dells of the area. The park has tons of hiking trails all over, nothing too hard, and typically MUCH less busy than Devil's Lake SP not far from here. While our party had children and thus nature viewing is not always possible due to our ambient noise level, there are always tons of signs of animals here, from Pileated woodpecker gouges to beaver chew marks on the trees above the lake. There is plenty of nature in the area to be seen, there is even some history. The Pulpit Rock trail includes some history about the neighborhoods that were once planned/built here for socialite families of the region. Somewhat interesting, nothing that will blow you away. The facilities at the park front office are the best in the park, with the rest being the typical pit toilets.

This is a great campground to pick if you want to visit the Dells area. It’s just outside of town, most places are only a 20 minute drive away. There were great hiking trails, there were so many to explore. My group took the Ishnala trail specifically and were pleased when it looked around back by our campsite. The loop we stayed in had a pit toilet and was not a far walk from the large bathroom and shower house. It was nice to have individual locked stalls, but the water usually didn’t stay on longer than 15 seconds and it was uncomfortably hot. The campground has a nice swimming beach with restrooms on site and a rental office. Overall, I would stay at this campground again. There is a lot to explore at the park alone and a rainy day doesn’t deter from staying in the park instead of a hotel.

This park could be considered the quieter, less crowded version to Devil's Lake State Park. We loved everything about it here! From the very shaded and flat (very important when tent camping) areas to camp, to the beautiful beach and wading level lake to the canoe and kayak rental. Everyone was friendly, including the park ranger and on site staff. Firewood was easily accessible at multiple points in the park. My only grip... and this is small... is that the garbage area was a mess... literally garbage everywhere... not the parks fault in reality but when you have a lot of campers and only one garbage drop off area and not enough bins... that exception aside... We will be staying here again! Loved it!
