Weight Limit should be clearly stated as "no more than 20% of horse's weight, including tack and rider".
I just wanted to put in a little note about weight limits. If anyone is going to go horseback riding, they should know what sort of horses are at a riding facility. They should also know the weight limits, by doing a little thing called research. It's really easy, just google "percentage of their weight a horse should carry". Find out the average weight of the tack that will be used, and add your own weight; if it's over 20% (here in the US anyway, in the UK I think it's 10%) of the horse's body weight, then sorry, but you'll be too heavy. This isn't calling into question their strength and majesty, indeed horses are both, but they are living breathing creatures with limits to their musculoskeletal system (like EVERY living creature that has muscles and bone, and tendons and ligaments that join them).
This isn't a dis to the owners, I'm very impressed that they love and care for their horses, and protect them. But, there should be a sign at the ranch (as well as a pinned post on their fb, and a section on it on their website) indicating that there is a weight limit for their horses. Sure, most of us would think that people who want to ride horses would have considered their weight already, but in these days, yea there are just too many people not thinking because they're too busy feeling entitled. It's not fatphobic, it's not hating on curvy people, it's recognizing basic biology. People in the US should just be happy they don't live in the UK, if it is indeed 10% there; mind you, that would be better...
Read moreWe visited with my daughter who is 11 years old. We had booked a one hour and a half horse back riding at the beach. As soon as we arrived I asked the responsible lady if it is ok for beginners. She replied yes of course no problem. We were in a group with 3 children and 3 adults with only one guide. As we were in the woods, suddenly the horses did not want to move anymore. They were returning back. The guide could not manage all of them. We tried for 25 minutes to move forward but the horses would not listen. The kids got very scared and started screaming and crying. It was a chaos. The guide decided to go back, telling us that probably the horses did not want to move forward as there was probably a deer or a fox in the woods that made the horses not willing to move. The two adults from the group complained and insisted of going to the beach. Thank God another group was returning at that time and the guide of the second group agreed to return us back. Our guide was very polite, and said how sorry she felt about that and that we should go back and be refunded. As soon as we arrived back after 45 mins, without seeing the beach and with 3 very scared children, we asked the responsible lady to refund us. She denied saying that it was our fault that we could not manage...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The owner, Cate was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was in an unfortunate situation where I needed to shift the dates to a couple weeks after my gift certificate expired and I just asked for a short extension and the response I received from the owner Cate was "our prices are different now, you had a year to use it." And then she said I have customers waiting for me and hung up. I then wrote an email, and Cate's response was "I too have missed gift certificates due to time and respected the policy of the business. There are no exceptions."
The most disappointing thing was that my gift card was for $500 and she wasn't even willing to make an extension for an extra 1-3 weeks. I wasn't asking for my money back all I wanted to do was get an extension.
I wouldn't want to do business with an owner who doesn't prioritize their...
