Hither Hills Camping Grounds this year was an absolute nightmare with the mosquitos. I had the week of 07/22-07/29 Saturday to Saturday and from the very 1st evening the mosquitos were non stop. Me and the family and everyone around were bite several times within seconds of being out in the open. Everyday from morning till night all I heard was bug spray being sprayed by several campers. It was very disappointing since we have never experienced this amount of mosquitos in the 10 plus yrs we've been Camping at HH. We wait 10 months to camp with the family and enjoy the summer week long fun but this year we cut our week short due to the influx of mosquitos. We wish the campgrounds would have been sprayed or someone would have reached out in an email to communicate that the camp grounds had not been sprayed for bugs. I really hope that the next couple of weeks are better with the mosquitos and that they were sprayed for the campers staying over the next week's to come. I really hope this does not occur next year and I'm sure other campers communicated this inconvenience to the office. I would have rated HH more than a 3 star had it not been for this past...

They also have family bathrooms and super large showers π.No pull string water control is the best. There's a nice size playground for the kids or big adults. All the sites are back in. There is no privacy between sites and every site is completely open.Everyone is very friendly. They actually have a general store that sells beer. They sell wood at the main office $7 a bundle. It was worth it . On the back side of the main office building they have air fill up the station. If you're coming back from wheeling this is nice. From where we camped we were literally on the other side of the dune to the beach. There are no hookups so you have to be self-contained. There are water spickets around the campgrounds. So if you do pick a site that is close to one of these water stations you might get some extra foot traffic near your site. Something to think about when choosing a spot. We really had a great time and you're only 10 minutes away from town which was also very nice. We will definitely...
Β Β Β Read moreWe have been camping at Hither Hills for years. We used to come when our children were young and it was the best place for families to camp. In more recent years we camped without our children since they grew up and moved off Long Island. Last summer they decided to join us. Our son wanted to bring his K-9. We knew the rule had changed regarding dogs. My husband, via email, asked if our son could bring his working dog. It was confirmed they would allow it. The dog wasnβt on the premises 24 hours and according to the management βthere are too many complaints about barking and if there are more, you will have to leaveβ. My son and his wife decided to go home (6 hour trip they had just made the day before) with the dog. We paid for the entire week. We asked for a refund for my sonβs site. Tom said he would put in for it. Havenβt received it yet. And the campsite was occupied by others campers the next day! We are very disappointed to say the least. Just want the $234 refunded (minus the one...
