Montauk is a beautiful coastal town located at the eastern end of Long Island in New York. It is known for its stunning beaches, world-class surfing, and laid-back atmosphere.
One of the most popular attractions in Montauk is Montauk Point Lighthouse, which is the oldest lighthouse in New York State and a National Historic Landmark. Visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse for stunning views of the surrounding area.
Montauk is also home to several beautiful beaches, including Ditch Plains Beach, which is a popular spot for surfers, and Gin Beach, which offers calm waters and a relaxing atmosphere.
In addition to its natural beauty, Montauk has a rich history and is home to several historic sites, including the Second House Museum, which is a restored 18th-century farmhouse, and Camp Hero State Park, which was once a top-secret military installation.

The Museum at the base of the Light house you have to pay for.
Due to COVID, The light house is closed to he public.
The bathrooms available to the public are located by the children's play area and they are for the most part clean.
There's no restaurant open due to COVID as well, so you'll have to bring your food with you if you pan on eating at the park.
The souvenir store on the grounds currently has a limit of 10 patrons at a time. Yes you must wear a mask in all of the public areas.
The park is dog friendly but be aware the tall grass areas have warning of TICKS and other biting insects. Make you the pooch is protected.
Take the trail to the beach but be forewarned there is loose gravel and uneven terrain so supportive shoes are a must.
For those towing or in a RV there is parking on the far end of the parking lot. I noticed about 4 to 5 vehicles there.
It's a nice day trip or weekend trip if you're going to be...
Read moreWhat a naturally beautiful park! The light house is relatively cheap- $11 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $5 for children 12 and under. During the on season (April 2nd- October 10) from 8am-4pm, there is an additional parking fee of $8. Don't forget the park closes at sunset. But dont let that stop you, this park also offers a stargazer's permit for $35! The park boasts many attractions, such as, a lighthouse cafe, viewfinders, swings, a beautifully built, large playground, and easy access to public restrooms. There are spectacular views of the ocean, lighthouse, and radar station inside the nearby base from the numerous trails in the park. I would definitely recommend the large rock trail at the bottom of the light house that loops around the point. Also, camp hero, an old military base, offers shelter from the wind and picinic tables for those who prefer to barbeque. But no public access is allowed to the abandoned buildings on site. Overall, this is a breathtaking park for families, photographers, and the...
