First, let me start with the wine is very good. Carmen's Last Dance is my favorite. Unfortunately the service is not what it used to be. We have been there many times, most recently 7/23. We found a seat outside and brought our cooler with us. It had food, no outside alcohol. We were shortly greeted by the GM who said that they do not encourage coolers. We responded with it is just some food, not outside alcohol and we intend on purchasing bottles of wine to drink there and bottles to take home. We told her we brought a cooler last year and no one said anything. She said she has been the GM for 3 years and coolers were never allowed. She told us we could go ahead this time. We put our food out and then put the cooler back in the car. A little bit later my friend went inside to let the GM know we were disappointed about the cooler situation. She said she was sorry we felt that way. She also said that the owners were on-site and they do not encourage coolers because that makes people want to stay too long. Enough said. We did not make the purchases we had planned on. We took our...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. I am not usually one to add reviews to places but this time requires one. Recently, I was part of a bachelorette group, and we had called ahead before coming. We were directed into a separate tasting area because of our size. This separate area was very nice. As each one of our members was purchasing a tasting, we were told that we have to leave the room once we have our wine. So we were not able to ask any questions, enjoy the indoors/aesthetic, etc. Thankfully, it was nice outside that we could enjoy our wine tasting outside. So we enjoy the wine and sat outside. We needed to use the bathroom, so we went as a group. Thinking this would be faster than individually using the bathroom. One girl accidentally forgot her mask to wear on when she walked in, but did walk out with it on. The front desk lady was extremely rude and told our group that it was time for us to leave. It was terrible customer service especially from a big group of paying customers. I will not be coming here again and referring people to some...
Read moreI visited Harbor Ridge on Labor Day weekend as part of a Door County Trolley tour for a bachelorette party. Our group was about 20, ranging in age from 25-55. This winery was the third wine-tasting on the tour, and the last stop before lunch. The staff was immediately impatient with us and seemed rushed. Several times during the tasting, which took place at the upstairs bar, the bartender Yelled over us to be quiet, at one point shouting, "Ladies! LADIES! I'm trying to give a presentation!!".
This arrogance and condescension significantly affected the mood of the group and the tone of the rest of the tour. Instead of browsing the shop, the group chose to wait outside for the trolley to come pick us up. Although many ladies said the wine at Harbor Ridge was the best they had tasted all day, very few of us actually purchased anything at the winery because of the rude treatment we received. Perhaps if the staff at this winery is unable or unwilling to accommodate such groups, they should reconsider their tour...
