If you live in or are visiting the area, this antique mall is well worth the visit. First, the prices! I was furnishing an old farmhouse and needed a lot of furniture. I looked closer to home (the Ontario Mall is about an hour 15 away from me) and many other antique stores had nice things, but smaller selections and their prices reflected the consignment aspect of the store, the rent the store owner pays, the price the store owner marked it up to, etc. At the Ontario Mall though, sellers rent a booth and price their items themselves so you get a real mix of prices that in many cases are unbeatable. Granted I was after furniture not small items or jewelry , collectibles etc, but I was initially so shocked at how good the prices were after shopping around. Second reason to visit is the amazing selection of items and crazy variety of them! I found so many great pieces, from armchairs to dining room chairs, lamps, gorgeous desks, bookshelves, patio furniture, art and more! Third is the great people who work there and the smart systems they have to make it all work for you. I had the time and patience to visit the mall numerous times during my house project and interacted with many different staff members. This is a huge store and they have great systems in place for tagging the pieces you want, locating items, helping you check out (for instance there are 2 lines - one for purchases of 5 items or more, which keeps the flow going well on a busy day), helping you carry your items out, load your items, and they will even hold items for you for up to 2 weeks if you need to come back with a larger vehicle (like I did several times). The staff is helpful, professional, friendly and hard working - and they provide a lot of service to the customers! I really appreciated all their help. Fourth, there are sales and discounts on items in different booths very often, and there are big store wide markdown sales frequently too! The staff was wonderful about keeping track of all the sales in different booths on my items and on letting me know about big sales coming up so I could save even more. A couple of tips that helped me with my project: Go in with a list of what you need, and bring measurements and pictures of the spaces you want to put your new furniture (they have measuring tape you can use while you’re there if you forget your own - just ask at the front desk!) If you’re looking for pieces for multiple rooms, consider having a note or separate lists for each room. I would create a note in my notes app for each room with specific pieces I was after and possible dimensions, including relevant room dimensions. Then, as I walked around the store and saw possible items that would work, I would photograph them and add them to that rooms’ note. I’d add dimensions for the piece as well as which booth I saw it in (so I could go back to it). I would photograph the price tag too to have a record of the item number and relevant details. Once I’d considered all my options, I’d make my final decisions and have a staff member collect the items I wanted to purchase. What was really helpful was that sometimes I didn’t buy the piece that day, but having the photograph and dimensions allowed me to come home and consider it and make a decision to go back and get it. On a couple occasions this happened and i was able to call the store and pay over the phone since I couldn’t get right back up there right away. There is a lot of movement of items there as they are well priced so I learned not to wait for a week to buy something I knew I wanted! I will be a loyal customer as long as this...
Read moreAbsolutely love coming here, I never leave empty handed, until a situation where one of the staff members named Janet who is very, very rude and has created an unpleasant atmosphere for myself, my boyfriend and my mother; who became so upset that she had to express her frustration as she was not going to allow us to be treated like this. The situation should have been handled better by removing this toxic employee immediately, but instead were asked to explain why and what happened as if it wasn’t completely obvious. Your staff, Janet, barked at all three of us for simply looking at the cookies display and checking out the catalogs. She barked giving orders to come over to a station that says 5 items or less without allowing any of us to explain we had our ticket number and more items were taken back to be held until checkout. All three of us had separate items being held with the same number. I had a few items i was holding, I had explained to Janet how I had a number and more items being held. She never asked me if I had a number and was rude asking what else there was. It’s hard to explain and remember everything I had as to why it was brought up for when I was ready for checkout. When I said I had certain items, she came back and said she couldn’t find them. That’s when I felt done and wanted to leave. She then kept telling us how she can only handle 5 items or whatever at a time, over and over to the point my mother yelled at her asking why she told us to come over here then. Janet does not have the skills to be working with the public and should not be there. If I see her again, I will be highly disappointed and uncomfortable. And to add, my boyfriend said she was rude to him when he had asked for assistance when checking something out. Isn’t that the job and how it works? Not for Janet. She is incompetent and I suggest if you want a regular customer, actually custoMERS then this Janet does not need to be there. And another thing having to hear that there was problems with this broad before, this says more about the management then. I’ll give my 5 stars if I have a better experience next time and don’t see her again. Or anyone that acts like her. Our rest of the day was disappointing at the thoughts of all the items left behind. We had so much fun and had so much stuff picked out up til that point. Janet will be ignored and she won’t be cashing out myself again. Better luck next time. Maybe fix the problem and do better by not letting people who are so miserable work...
Read moreFirst time there this weekend and there are TONS of great finds here and a bunch to look at! Good luck actually getting help to look at an item and heaven forbid if you need to actually review an item before purchasing. Asked for help to open a case and was told by the worker who seemed annoyed that they were busy and would get someone over to help. Waited for 15 minutes with several workers walking by, I decided to give up and go to the front with the 2 other items I had. I asked the cashier if she could help me with the case and she seemed annoyed calling for assistance and told me to go back over and someone would be by. The same worker who was annoyed and busy came by to help and seemed even more annoyed the second time around. Got back upfront to cash out and was told the item($10) I had waited for now didn't qualify for the discount they had ( 20% off items $10 or over). At this point my significant other just wanted to just leave everything there but I reluctantly cashed out. Half of me is thankful for this terrible customer experience so that way my significant other wont want to come back to get more "collections". Overall 4.5/5 for the vendors selection but the customer service here is...
