Pilot Knob Trail Head — Attraction in Town of Fort Ann

Good trail for family and group hike as there’s a beautiful gazebo overlooking Lake George. Beginner group can rest there as the intermediate group can proceed to the small waterfalls 💧😅. Met the most inspiring woman 👩 from Connecticut on the way to the waterfall. She was backpacking with her baby in the back and 2 young children(carrying all their gears😅 💪. Hope she would inspire you to make it to the top at the falls. Be careful there’s a hole at the gazebo that many people slipped their ankle into. I fixed many ankle fractures from holes like this. Wonderful and easy trail that is almost all age friendly. There is a beautiful gazebo at the top that has breathtaking views of Lake George. Further down the trail past the gazebo there is supposed to be a waterfall but it was more like a creek when we got there. Nonetheless the walk was great and well marked. I think it must have been about 4 miles all around. We walked very slowly taking some breaks and it took about 3 hours. Great day hike - uphill all the way through on the orange trail to gazebo but still beginner friendly and no snow on the trail this time of year despite last weekend’s snowfall. Gazebo area is flat and above tree line, so expect lots of wind, but the view is gorgeous and worth it! Blue trail to waterfall from the gazebo is much flatter and the falls are gorgeous after snowmelt like this.
