Unfortunately, the Herkimer County fair is by far the worst fair I have been to... The vendors mostly were like people having a garage sale, selling odd items clearly to make money. The food was the cheapest food around and I don't mean money-wise. I got buffalo chicken mac and cheese from one place that was absolutely awful and didn't eat the rest of the time I was there because I was afraid to waste more money... The ride prices were THE WORST I've ever seen, making you pay 25 dollars for a wristband to ride all rides that ended at 4pm. Then the ticket booth person told me they wouldn't be selling tickets or wristbands again until 6pm because "we need a break too". (But I'm not sure why she said that because anytime I walked past, she was still there selling tickets...) Wristbands weren't sold again until 6pm though, another 25 dollars? So if you wanted to spend the day there and ride rides throughout the day, you'd spend 50 dollars on two wristbands for one person, or 20 dollars for 22 single tickets, which gave two kids the ability to go on two rides... To make it worse, they make you pay for the demolition derby, a total first for me! Nothing seemed to be included with admission. Even a side pirate show, they charged you 5 dollars to use YOUR phone to take a picture with people dressed as pirates... The fair was also probably the smallest I've been to... it was just one thing after another... The only reason I'm giving them two stars is really because the demolition derby was very enjoyable, and through the over charging and little they did have, I still managed to find enjoyment here and there. But will I ever go back? DEFINITELY not. And unless you are able to frivolously spend money, I don't suggest you...
Read moreArrived to find the fair packed with people. Demo Derby is going and stands full. This year, there is no large tent with expansive seating inside to listen to music and eat with your family. They had the one permanent pavilion being used with very little seating, and most was being used by kids loitering. Also, there were far more foods available for purchase than actual fair events. The display areas were empty, and many vendors didn't even show up. Very poor management of the event. The parking was a whole different problem. People are just pulling in and parking however they like taking multiple spots, etc. Definitely should have parking attendees put you into a spot to maximize the parking area, especially in the handicap ♿️ parking area. The food prices were all over the place. A slice of pizza at one place was 5 bucks for a tiny slice, and just across the way, a slice of pizza at different vendor was 5 bucks for a huge slice. Boba Tea, absolutely ridiculous price 10 bucks for 6oz of fluid.....the cup was stuffed with ice and topped with fluid. Yeah, I'd definitely recommend fair organizers to look at the vendors better and plan more for a family setting, not a place to act as a babysitter event...
Read moreTo be honest, there were SO many people it made it hard to move around at all. Especially with a stroller. Had little pig races, super cute & they were interactive with the kids to pick a winner & possibly win a little badge. Could feed little goats, kids loved. Kids rides are decently priced. Daughter got a slice of pizza $5 & souvenir cup soda $6.. not bad for a fair. Blooming onion $12, super greasy & was served with thousand island dressing. Watched a guy after handling money go stick his hand in the batter and do a couple onions. No surprise that we only ate maybe ¾ & both felt sick the rest of the night, definetly wouldn't order from them again. Demolition derby started 42 mins late so didn't get to stay to watch it as the kids were done after sitting around waiting so long & wanted to go play games & do rides. $5 parking...
