While I understand Covid-19 policies are in place, I still was not real pleasant with my visit. Don’t get me wrong, so cute on the outside, especially if it’s a gorgeous day. They have two options of tastings, 5 2oz. Pours of pre-set options for $5 or 5 wines of 3/4 pours for $3 that you can choose. Now, I’ve learned a lot about wine within the past year so I like to know about what I’m drinking and have a great experience as wine is a lot about the experience. I did ask the person about the grapes and he explained great, but I had to remember it all when I finally got my wine... Now, I received my wine by getting my name called to come pick it up like I was at a fast food joint. Or that’s how I felt anyways. I tried five whites and five reds, I like my wine dry or Rarely, semi- sweet. I can’t give a great review of the wine because the only one I liked whoch, was the Gertz. Also, no water was provided you had to buy it and same for crackers, which I don’t know maybe it’s just me, but all the wines start to blend. Because I can’t get one wine I didn’t like taste out of my mouth. I thought water wouldn’t be hard to provide because usually it’s free and available because you are serving alcohol. Maybe right now isn’t the best time to go because people treat you like you are a disease or that your infected with an illness and make you feel bad. My final question would be how you do a wine tasting in a room with a mask on? In addition, this was not the only winery in Door County that requires a mask inside. (My experience was outside because I did not have a mask and failed to read their website stating they require masks) hope this informs some of...
Read moreI wouldn't recommend if you're looking for wine tasting or a quiet spot to stop and enjoy wine on the weekend. This is a tourist spot where I felt like I was pushed through. Though they offer a lot of good tasting wines/treats, the experience was disappointing.
We went here intending to buy some things in their gift shop and enjoy a bottle of wine on their patio, but I knew that would be difficult the second we walked through the door. There was a long, winding line in front of a counter where they pour samples and push you through. There were tables around that were littered with papers to choose from whether you want to do a tasting or flight that you bring up to the cashier and then they push you through and give you what you chose at the end for you to sit on the patio and enjoy. What they didn't have time for was to have a personable conversation and tell you about the wines you chose which is what I usually look forward to when I go wine tasting. We actually just wanted to get a bottle and drink, but in order to do that, we had to go into the gift shop to purchase a bottle, but then we had to go back to the wine tasting counter to interrupt the cashier and ask for cups (yes, plastic cups, not wine glasses).
I'm not saying this isn't a nice place to stop, it just wasn't the environment or experience I was hoping for. If you're looking for that quiet, wine-enjoying experience, I'd suggest going...
Read moreLautenbach's Orchard Country Winery & Market - fish creek, Wi. - We did a tasting and I forgot to get a picture so just added one of the dozens since I came to the very north of Door County. Went for a tasting of wine and cider. It was great place. I wound up adding two bottles of wine, and one bottle of cider to my collection, that is going back to Arkansas. The tasting notes rices are much lower than even the (Walmart) post winery in Arkansas. When you go. You go into the tasting room, get a list, mark the front with with weather you want sample or regular size, then make up a funny name. I used Rendizzle, and Ty Swindel. Then marked 5 choices, took it to the server. Then tested. The second test flight I was pleasantly surprised. I had only marked four. So the young lady that was filling the cups told me and I said,”just put your favorite”. She made the best choice of the day. I bought two of the wines and one of the ciders. My rating is 8.2. #lautenbachsorchardcountry #lautenbach #winetasting #winelover #gotodoorcountyinstead #wiscowine...
