Nice place to go and learn more about the area, especially about the slate and immigrants who worked the quarries. They were just opening for the new season and Ellen and Tom were very welcoming. Many families were there enjoying the day. They do have many events throughout the year - check FB or website schedule. In a quiet area of town, which was nice.

They have so many family friendly events throughout the year! We went on Father's Day weekend to build birdhouses. We had a blast. Ellen and Tom were gracious hosts. Definitely check out their Facebook page for upcoming events. Definitely recommend.

Cool little museum. Great to see local history like that. The donated equipment and the room built like a shed from a quarry in 1920 are some of the best features.

i really enjoyed the history of the museum. It is not a large museum but one gains an appreciation for the skill and hardwork that is and was involved. There is an historic mural depicting the progression of slate mining. The upcoming festival of lights will be a delight dor young and old. the gift shop was reasonable prices. The highlight of the museum is the friendly staff! There is an immediate bond formed. They give a talk if you want it and since they have lived there it is an attachment. Highly...

Not only for out of towners, something for everyone here. A wonderfully displayed collection telling the story of slate and the industry tied to it. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It's evident to see the love that the curators have for slate in the way there museum is set up. They also have many events throughout the month, and year, some as fund raisers some free to attend. Their festival of trees at Christmas time...
