We went on the tour 6/13/23 and were not impressed. We paid $96.91 for the boat ride and the tour. First impression walking up to the castle was it is not kept up at all. Tour guide did an amazing job so this review is not about them it is about the overall status of the property and the fact you are basically touring someone's dirty old house and paying for it. There was an actual cockroach walking down the hallway on the second floor another person on the tour pointed it out , spiders everywhere and overall dirt. The guide stated that there was a caretaker who is on the island year round . Our question was what exactly was he and or she taking care of because it certainly is NOT this property. It is such a shame that it looks as awful as it does you can clearly see that the 3 owners of this property are just out for making money, the tour guide stated they put all the money back into the property , you can clearly see this is not the case. She then told the group you could stay in the master suite for $900.00 a night and have full rein of the castle. Um yea no thank you , not only would the spiders have a field day with you but you more than likely will be coming home with Roaches in your belongings . Save your money don't bother visiting use it at Boldt Castle , its amazing that Boldt Castle is 5 times the size of Singer and yet is EMACULATELY kept and beautiful. And for the money we spent we could have done the Uncle Sam Lunch tour which included a tour of the islands and Boldt Castle. Again Don't waste your time with Singer its a...
Read moreMy wife and i stayed two fantastic nights in the Royal Suite. It was wonderful. so this review is more helpful tips if you are planning on staying the night.
There is a drip coffee maker in the butlers pantry. Next time we will bring our own death wish coffee. ITs a personal preference nothing against what they served us.
The salads they serve at night are huge, with lots of food left over for snacking later. However we brought some food with us. There is a nice microwave to heat stuff up. Plus a refrigerator to store leftover in. The refrigerator is a small refrigerator, but the care taker had ice for our cooler that he happily provided. Since you cant really leave the island, bring the food you would like to snack on. The caretaker provided with a nice bowl of different snack in the pantry. .
The experience was quite new to me and my wife. Being on a island with no where to go and just time to relax and chill was a great treat. the sunrises and sunsets were beautiful, as was just about every view from each of the windows in the royal suite.
The other room in the royal suite has two queen beds in them and is perfect for guests.
The Bathroom has no tub, only a beautiful shower.
Everything was exceptional. From the great tour by Scott, to the building itself. Trust me videos and pictures dont do this place justice. The renovation work is ongoing and all the work done is reflected in a beautiful building.
We highly recommend this place and are planning a return trip...
Read moreIt's a nice "castle" with a guided tour. That means that how good a tour you get depends on how good the tour guide is. Well we had a high school student who did an okay job -- for a high school student.
When I asked him some questions of the period mechanics; electricity, plumbing, he really didn't rise to the occasion. The island is currently owned by some investors and I guess that's how venture capital keeps costs down.
It's not a remarkable structure all said. I think Boldt Castle, which is much closer to the port, is much better, feels much bigger, and is more of what you expect in a castle. Looking back on the building as we sail away, the one lingering question I have is: "Was that it?"
I think for the fee, the hour trip there and back, they should invest in more knowledgeable and experienced tour guides. The talk we got on the Uncle Sam boat out there and back was much better than on the island. I get that they are trying to do weddings, fancy sleepovers, and ghost tours, but talking about the castle, how it was built, and something about the people who lived there would...
