Valley Stream State Park — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

I had the worse experience @ this park. The park staff was very rude and abnoxious in particular the gate staff manager by the name of Shenia Barrom whom was very unprofessional rude and disrespectful. I enter the gate and pay an 8 dollar 💵 fee to try the new park and once there we were told to leave with our dog. We told John we didn't see any postings or signs for no pets allowed and that we were not stopped by the staff at the gate because he saw our dog. My kids, wife and I hopped back in the car to claim my entrace fee which turn out in to a nightmare. I had to wait for Barron to show up and once she did she was rude from the beginning leaving me with all my concerns and questions unanswer. She had the nerve to tell me that returning my money was a cortesy and she didn't have to for which i reply that i just wanted my money back i didn't enter the park and was stopped at the parking lot. She also told me if i didn't like it i could complaint with my council man or county rep. Poor service over all!!... compared to Eisenhower which has plenty of activities for family and friends with a friendly staff. They have picnics areas free and cabins to rent the best childrens playground, swiiming, bike riding and...

I am here to share my disappointment with Valley Stream State Park that occurred on Sunday September 1st, 2024. Our family set up a picnic area near the rear bathrooms because we had a lot of children coming and wanted to be close. We kept checking the doors to the bathrooms and also stopping the park employees as the drove by to inquire what time the bathrooms open, none of them gave a direct answer. I decided to call the office and I asked that the bathrooms be open, the rude lady on the phone said that those bathrooms are not open unless someone rents the pavilion. It gets more bizarre! I explained that we have children who need to use the bathrooms and she rudely said, “I suggest you move closer to the other bathrooms”.

I would like to understand how park management is making decisions about bathrooms. It is Labor Day weekend, a long weekend that is notoriously known for bbq at the parks, the park employees saw the crowd at the park and a decision was not made to open the bathrooms even after seeing all of that! Everyone vehicle pays $8 to enter this park, why is it the bathrooms are not available to use! It is inhumane and deserves to be addressed! I truly hope that someone sees this review and take the relevant action needed to...

fee is 8 girl is rude besides that nothing special about the view. Be aware of no pets policy because the sign is not posted outside the entrance but after you paid $8，you will see the posting in the parking lot，where your nightmare starts. The girl looks nice but actually very uneducated，unprofessional，extremely rude and what she said does NOT made any sence AT ALL. You know what she said after eventually returned my money？“Get out off my face！”This girl is about 20，how can she work here as a cashier without any law knowledge？Thanks to the help of a lady who came to the entrance later and she told the girl “Give him money back！” Under the pressure she had to do it，not as previously she claimed No Return or Have To Call my Supervisor. Her action did not match her words. Very Bad Management，as an accountant I told her how to balance，and she pretended not understand，but how she resold my ticket to the next cash buyer？Insane...
