Woodmere Docks — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

Not sure why it’s called this because there are no docks associated with this site. The closest dock is a private club. The view is great, especially if you like watching planes land or looking at the private gold course nearby. There is a small boat ramp and some benches. The garbage cans always look like a mess, but I can understand this Town of Hempstead property is off the beaten path. This would easily be a three star review if it were better maintained, four star if there was something else to do and see, five star if the surrounding neighborhood really...

There is a huge pack of rats here. They are very active as the sun goes down and they feast from the garbage cans that provide their nightly banquets.

It's a nice area.

A small launch ramp. A few benches. No bathroom or playground equipment.

Aside from your own car there is no shelter from sun or rain.

There can be quite a few bees around.

High school kids sometimes park and party over there at night.

It's hard to fish there because the fence is too high.

Use to go here alot when I was in Valley Stream. It was not as popular as it is now. Good place to park and enjoy the ocean breeze. Also a good spot for lunch or evening sunset watch. They've add a fence which now allows only one car to enter or exit at a time. Not sure if this is due to the pandemic or if it was installed prior.
