The highest point in Wisconsin, Timm's Hill is a nice park with great views, easy-going paths, and the wonderful sounds of nature.
A short jaunt up to the tower provides phenomenal views of the rolling hills that go on for miles, and a couple of beautiful lakes. The path is normally easy to traverse, though I did have a pretty difficult time breathing due to the smoke from the Canadian wildfires this time around.
There is a nice playground area here, plenty of parking, vault toilets, a shelter with picnic tables and grills (and electric), an easy path up to the tower and down to the lake, and additional trails through the woods that meet up with the Ice Age Trail.
I did not pick a great day to come here, as the smoke from the wildfires was pretty horrendous, but still had an enjoyable time despite the trouble breathing. The bugs weren't bad, and I didn't get any ticks, though I did not take the trail through the woods this time around like I had originally planned.
Well worth visiting! I believe this is a destination everybody should see...
Read moreA stop on our father son road trip in 2022. This place was amazing! We got lucky and were the only ones there during the time. We obviously hiked to the Observation Tower first! Once there, we climbed and climbed and climbed but made it to the top! The views were breathtaking! We went in June so the greens were vibrant, a clear blue sky and we could see for miles! This was our last stop on our tour of the great state of Wisconsin. Took some great photos and my boy and I reminisced about the whole vacation that lead to this point. It was truly a magical and most precious moment for my boy and I. The park has a camping area, pavilion, ground mounted grills, a play area for the kids, a lake, swimming area, boat landing, hiking trails, horse riding trails and cross country trails all over! Would be a great place to camp for a night or two. Highly recommend this place for families, adventurers or nature lovers. To be honest, this is not a handicap friendly place. If you have troubles walking, the picnic areas are what you're...
Read moreNot a very high state high point, but beautiful nevertheless. In the middle of the woods in Northern Wisconsin in an unassuming county park, it is not a wilderness but the surroundings are nice. Been three times. A quarter-mile paved uphill trail gets you to the summit with relative ease. Two towers on top, along with the benchmark and mailbox with the register (there is another register in the parking lot by the wooden map of the park). 360-degree views on top of the wooden tower. A few other trails by the lake as well. Five stars for the peak itself, but docked the park a star for taking the bottom rungs off the metal ladder at the summit. Not as fun without being able to climb that. Also, bring some bug spray if you want to go between mid-May and mid-July. Overall, a great way to spend a half hour. Make sure to get lunch at Hill of...
