Laurel House Trail - Kaaterskill Falls Viewing Platform — Attraction in Town of Hunter

Multiple parking areas depending on what your looking for (all fill quite fast even during the week). But, still large parking lots. Multiple falls to view . Read the map prior to figure out the trails you wish to complete / the falls you’d like to see. I did 3 miles to inspiration point & back - skipped the lower falls (way too populated for me). Wear appropriate shoes as most of this hike is on the cliffs . This hike to inspiration or bolder point will be a slight challenge for beginner hikers . Ascending and descending down large rocks will be required . Ice is still present watch your step (but no snow). I wore regular hiking shoes and did just fine (although some patches are full mud ). Most everyone wearing masks ; for those large groups that weren’t it makes it rather difficult to pass at a safe distance due to the small hiking pathway you must climb along the cliffs . The falls are absolutely stunning! There are multiple trails to get to this location. With the rain and having the kids we tried this easier option. It wasn’t a very long trail but definitely steep. They designed the trail with mostly rock steps when getting to the very steep areas. Just be cautious when it’s wet from rain. Can be slippery. Definitely a trail for new hikers. Not very hard just if you are out of shape, coming back up from the falls might be hard. Planning on going back during the autumn season to experience the leafs change. We went on a Monday and it was pretty busy. I can imagine the weekend having a ton of people during the warmer months...

Multi tiered waterfall/trail… upper part to looking point platform was flat and easy from parking lot (which btw gets full fast on the weekend which we went on Sunday and full right after we got there and took last slot about 10AM). We continued to the mid level view of the falls which is still doable for most people but if you make your way down to the lowest level at the bottom of the falls, know that it’s not for everyone as there’s numerous stairs and some steeper going down (maybe total 400 steps down from top and another 400 back up.
