Veterans Park — Attraction in Town of Huntington

I've been to public skateparks all over this country and not one of them charges a fee. I've heard San Jose Ca, Lake Cunningham, one of the largest in the country, does in fact charge - $7 per day. But if you want to skate the Northport skatepark and you're a non-resident you must for a $100 yearly non-resident card. This could not be further form the spirit of skateboarding and enjoying the outdoors/parks. Northport Parks Dept should be ashamed...

my boyfriend, his friends and I were just trying to skateboard before work but the security guard kicked us out an hour before the skate park opened. i think it's unfair that the skate park opens so late in the day when they could easily open it earlier, like 10:00am. Really well laid out park. Handball, racquet ball, baseball, kids playground. All here for the entire family to enjoy. This was my first visit to this park although I have lived in the area for more than six years. If I'm not mistaken, I believe I saw water sprinklers for the children to run through on those hot summer days. Take the kids for a day out. They will sleep good...
