Captree Pride — Attraction in Town of Islip

Capt Kenny does work hard to put you on fish, but the mates on this boat make it a very unfriendly and rude experience. Many times did the mates (especially the younger one named James) ignore simple requests from passengers. For instance, a customer broke their line off and asked the younger mate to tie on a new rig for him and the kid rudely yells out “im fishing!”. Not to mention this customer also helped James net his own fish earlier in the trip. Another big negative would be the fact that they let your fluke rot in the sun all day in their blood filled buckets. They asked some passengers if they wanted theirs on ice (which is the obvious logical choice) but not others. Just a very lazy effort overall from the mates. The mates also did not care if the fish that were kept met regulation or not. I personally saw over half a dozen borderline and just flat out short flounder being kept.

Just to reiterate, capt Kenny does an exceptional job of putting you on fish, but the mates on this boat will leave you not wanting...

So I went out thanksgiving morning for strippers. Fishing was great and the boat was terrific. The problems I had was with the crew. They did bare minimum. I have knowledge on fishing so I don’t really need much help but I’ve been on other boats that helped me even though I knew what I was doing. Captain did a lot of spot moving even though we were on fish in the spots. And then at the end of the trip we could not even keep the jigs but that’s not the part I’m mad about. THEY COULDN’T EVEN TIE A SIMPLE LOOP they just left my line flying in the air which then fell through all of the guides. Overall was a great experience nice clean boat, we were on fish not necessarily slots but there were a few slots on the boat. If they are the only boat to pick I would go with them if not pick a differnt boat if you are learning to fish or have kids. ( if captain sees this and would like feedback I will be glad to give...

Saturday 1pm fishing trip with Captain Kenny & the mates was the best afternoon trips ever taken. Captain and mates made sure we were all catching fishes & we did - nothing but smiles & laughter; it’s impossible for me to catch the 7am trip being I’m coming from the city. Definitely looking forward to Captree Pride with Captain Kenny - he’s definitely knowledgeable on where the big black Seabass are at & then some. Captain Kenny gives you a bang for your buck - well worth the money for the 1pm...
