I love this place. Renovations over the years have made us want to go back and back and back over the years. Until yesterday. We were thrilled with the musianship of the bands BUT the sound volume was WAY too loud. We moved to the lobby to avoid the pain. We specifically came to hear the Korean jazz trio but the rock warm band almost left us deaf. Both bands very good but in all the performances over the years never were any over volumes this much. We were told by the announcer that the volume could not be changed. Not a rocket scientist but all things can be changed by volume control. Volunteer management offered a refund which we declined, preferring to contribute to this wonderful jewel being polished. We will be very hesitant to return. A small house does NOT need stadium amplification. If the band can’t hear themselves then turn up there monitors instead of the house/...
Read moreWhat a quaint little restored theatre. It's quite small, and the vast majority of seating is in the balcony. This is probably because the stage is actually taking up most of the lower level.
The sound is not terrible here, but definitely not great either. By virtue of its size, there isn't really a bad seat in the house... Unless you're stuck in the way back of the balcony where you'll be sitting on a plastic folding chair...
No drinks or food served. There were some cheerful volunteers who had coffee and some cakes and cookies available for a voluntary donation.
Location is decent, right in town next to Maxwells pub so you can at least have a pint...
