Ray's Beach — Attraction in Town of Lafayette

Narrow sand beach with a large grassy knoll. This is a happening place in the summer. The swim area is pretty shallow as you can walk out a long ways with it staying only a few feet deep. Boats, kayaks, and jetskis stop by on the sides of the swim area and even the local lake bar, The Sand Bar will send a drink pontoon if you're getting thirsty. Decent sized, family friendly, sandy beach and a large grassy area for picnicking. There was a large algae bloom when we were there last week, but kids enjoyed playing in the sand. Bathroom was clean but there was no soap dispenser in the bathroom for washing hands, so bring your own soap I guess?? There was a lot of trash in the parking lot. Only a small strip of sand, but it was free of trash. Nice tables and benches, and reasonably well kept facilities. Biggest problem was the obvious and recent presence of geese voiding themselves. Nothing that can be done about that, of course, but it is a sanitary concern that prevented us from relaxing and laying out our towels. Worth checking out but may not always be the best option...
