The pirate ship tour is always a lot of fun. The crew make it an enjoyable experience providing commentary on things to see (eagle nests, otters ...) around the multiple lakes you tour. Some pirate snacks are provided. As this was a sunset cruise, we got to see a beautiful sunset over the lakes and also as it had rained briefly at the beginning of our trip there were rainbows. Seating is comfortable and everyone has the opportunity to move around the ship during the cruise. Going up to the top where the captain drives the ship is always fun as you can see more from that high vantage point and Captain Steve always accommodates the kids who want to drive the ship. Many times, there are hand drawn (temporary) tattoos done on kids by the pirate crew members. The ship ride is a very fun experience for kids and adults alike.
The wood fired oven pizzas are GREAT. A wide variety of options for people to choose from. The Best in the whole Northwoods area with top notch ingredients and a crust that is simply wonderful. Oh, and don't miss the ice cream stand on the upper deck of the shore facility above the music pavilion/tiki bar. LOTS of options and amazing sundaes. The "pirate/island" drink menu is fantastic. The bartenders are wonderful and clearly work hard to serve the many customers. Also, they have Live music 4 nights a week (FREE) that provides for a great evening with all the other amenities. Wide variety of music provided and always entertaining.
Lots of games for kids and adults to play out on the lawn area by the lake, and many tables for seating both in shade and in sun as desired. On some occasions they have a person with huge bubble maker and at least once or twice there is a real live mermaid, both of which the kids of all ages thoroughly enjoy.
Pirates Hideaway is simply a pirate's treasure in the Northwoods and something everyone can enjoy. We go multiple times in the summer and are never disappointed. We HIGHLY recommend a visit to see Captain Steve, Linda, Pirates Stevo and Jamie and all of their...
Read moreThis place is a jewel adventure for a day! We bought our two tickets online earlier in the week, as I could see they fill up. We got there early enough to go to the tiki bar prior to our 12:30 ride. The bartender told us he could give us a bucket with ice to pack a few drinks for the ride. Everyone here is very friendly. We got on board to a friendly pirate greeting. We sat on top deck. Both pirates did a great job socializing and informing all of the people on the boat about the lakes, history, history of when they bought it, etc. Then the ride began. What an amazing 90 minute tour. Small kids got to come steer the boat which I could tell by the look on their faces that they were thrilled to death. They provide water and lemonade when you ride and also come around with snacks mid way during the ride. This chain of lakes is beautiful with some amazing real estate to view. We saw two eagles nests and one eagle perked high in the tree watching our boat. Amazing. I didn't know what to expect when I booked this adventure but I can tell you it surpassed expectations. To go on a beautiful boat ride on a gorgeous hot Wisconsin day is a treat. Book this for sure. There is also food and pizza back at the tiki bar. They have a patio upstairs and live music on certain days of the week; check on their website for details. Next time we would like to be there in the evening also to enjoy a different atmosphere and their beautiful patio and lights. We hope to make this a tradition and have other family members go next time too. I am adding lots of photos. Pirate Captain Steve is great and his son Steve both do a great job as fun pirates and truly seem to love what they do. Thank...
Read moreHave to write a great recommendation for this experience. We were visiting the area and I had googled things to do and this popped up. To be honest, we thought it would be a bit silly and hokey, but it was a total blast. The property itself has a great outdoor bar and ice cream shop. The pirate boat is really fun looking (and authentic too!) Captain Steve was a great guide, and Steve-O was exceptional, even letting my son captain the ship for awhile, which was super fun for him. The chain of lakes you travel on are so beautiful, and we saw deer and eagles and otters and lots of other natural life. They treated us to popcorn and lemonade (adults can bring adult beverages on board) and told us about the lakes. Small businesses like this are struggling because of COVID restrictions, and I have to tell you that they did a great job taking precautions. The number of people on each cruise is much smaller than normal (which was kinda cool because you could move around the ship easily.) This experience is amazing if you have little ones, but even with a teenager, we had a blast. If you are in the area, I highly recommend this delightful experience. We will be talking about it fondly for a long...
