Went to SLPE for the first time to attend the 2023 GOTO meet, and this is an awesome museum. The grounds are excellent and extremely well maintained. They have a lot of different buildings to look at with a ton of displays. The only thing I was disappointed with was the lack of live displays. We went by the sawmills and shingle mills several times on Friday and Saturday, and they were not being run. It did sound like they had a mechanical failure on one of the mills on Saturday, but they must not have run it for long as we never saw it operating.

$5 each with free parking. They have tractors that will take you to and from your car during events. Plenty of restrooms as well as a snack & information area. Kids can get a scavenger hunt sheet to get stamped. Once it is filled in each child who fills one out may get a choice of a free small ice cream cone, 1 slice of cheese or pepperoni pizza. We spent over 2 hours there walking around. Plenty of places to rest and even get a ride to a location. They give out a map as well.

This Madrid area museum really exceeded expectations. The attendants were knowledgeable and friendly; the facilities were expansive; and the exhibits were interesting. I see that they also use the campus for community events, like textiles workshops and for historic reenactment. All in all, this place is amazing!

What an incredible museum. Each year they have added new buildings. This year we LOVED the clock store! Most of the clocks were from the Hunter collection. His daughter was there giving tours and answering questions. What a fascinating connection to history! The many craft and wine vendors at the special yearly event never disappoint. A fun outing for the...
