Basha Kill Wildlife Refuge — Attraction in Town of Mamakating

We bring the kayaks here & its absolutely beautiful if you time it correctly with the vegetation growth! Lots of native wildlife and the water is relatively clear in most areas. This year there was a nesting bald eagle who always lingered close to the water, the photo opportunities were spectacular!

This is such a great place for dropping the kayak in nice weather. The flora and fauna are interesting. Beautiful water flower varieties. Many birds, ducks, turtles, and you might get lucky and spot some eagles as well. On a still day the channel waters reflect like mirrors. Ive kayaked here both by day and by night and it never disappounts. If you put in by the Bashakill Winery on the weekends you can enjoy a bite to eat afterwards.
