Just got done shopping at the Union Square farmers market and my experience at this farm stand was so bad I had to share. My mom and I thought their sugar plums looked good so I was asking the man in the picture who was standing directly in front of us how to pick the ripest sugar plums because some were bright yellow, orange-ish and some were pink-ish/red-ish but before I could even get past, "How do we..." this EXTREMELY RUDE man cut me off and said "They're all sugar plums" and walked away. He didn't even bother making eye contact with us. SO damn rude my mom and I had to leave and I needed to take a picture of this person to document my experience there. I have become an apple aficionado because, as a poet, I LOVE their beautifully descriptive names: Summer Pippins, Spartan Macs, Ginger Gold, and Rhode Island Greening to name a few of the more than 70 varieties grown here (in Milton-on-Hudson).
