This is a very cool very large ironworks with a cool view of a small gorge. Definitely worth a stop on your way up to the ghost town. Plug this address into your phone instead of Tahawus as it'll take you to private property and a closed road. If you cross a bridge you've gone too far. Turn around and take the other road immediately before the bridge. There's plenty of signage explaining the history and use of the area. If I make it to retirement I want to do the most popular of the High Peaks coming in from the backdoor here at Towhas. The history of the furnace is an amazing one, the notion that a place so remote and inaccessible could become a successful enterprise required folks with an unbelievable amount of conviction.
