After many no answered calls, we drove to John Brown Farm State historic park and we stopped by Adirondack sleigh rides. My wife asked for info and the lady told us 90 dollars for 3. We immediately accepted, because the idea to horse sleigh ride into the woods with tons of snow was to exciting. The appointment was for the same day at 7PM for the night ride. Well, my mistake that we did not ask more details about the ride. Groups ride or private ride? In Covid time , group ride should be banned if you can not keep social distancing between strangers. So I naively thought that it was a private ride ( yeah I know, the price should have make me think about a group ride but I did not). The lady that gave us the quote did not mention about group or private ride. So at 6:45pm we were there ready for our ride. Once there I noticed other 10 people waiting for the night ride so I asked if the ride will be a group ride and ... yes it was.
Now, nothing against a group ride but a group ride with no distance between stranger during Covid it seems too bad for me. Some of the guest did not wear mask and the main man from the Adirondack sleigh rides was not wearing a mask. When I tried to talk with the two ladies to understand how it can be possible putting together stranger with no social distancing and no mask for a ride, the ladies was not able to give me an explanation ( of course the explanation is , we need to work and we do it whatever it costs...). She tried to say that here in lake placid the pandemic was not that bad and for this reason they were not very concerned about the no social distancing... What leave me shocked is that this people did not learned nothing from this pandemic situation, another incredible point is that if you visit lake placid tourism website, the Adirondack sleigh rides are suggested as a great company and great tour. Well I will write to the lake placid tourism and I will ask them to check if the company that they sponsor are following all the state mandate law on Covid 19. Shame. As an example I have been multiple time at Mt van Hoevenberg. There is a limited number of people that can access the facility, there is enough space between people on the slope and the restaurant is closed due to COVID-19 situation to keep everyone SAFE. This is the main word ( SAFE) than in name of the money, Adirondack sleigh rides do not understand.

Read moreDid a private ride - everything we hoped for for Valentine's day. They also have group rides. Melissa and George were very friendly and helpful. Hope to come back sometime to try a night time ride... on a clear night. I strongly suggest calling at least a couple days in advance and telling Melissa what exactly you are hoping for. We got lucky with the weather, but If you have a little flexibility around you trip and can look at the forecast a few days in advance, you won't have to trust to luck! Part of the price goes to support...
